So, my local hill has raised their price of a pass yet again this year. They raised the price last year, and have now raised the price again for this upcoming season, by $100 making it close to a grand for a pass. Now, sure I understand that sometimes you gotta raise the price after say — putting in a new lift, making new runs, expanding SOMETHING! But in the past two years of them raising the price of their seasons pass, there has been no on hill improvements. The only thing they have "improved" is a new condo complex... which I'm not even sure is actually associated with the ski hill proper — and has nothing to do with on hill anything.
Not only have they not made any on hill improvements, they didn't have a brushing crew this year to make the trails better, and they fired the head of outdoor operations during the summer and eliminated his job for the upcoming winter. So, no new lifts (or upgrades to the old lifts), no new trails (or trail maintenance of any kind), no renovations on the day lodge or any on hill buildings, we have no snowmaking, and you can pretty much guarantee the park won't see anything in terms of "improvements" or a bigger budget or more cat time, or any of that stuff a park needs to become good.
So what the fuck? How can ski hills justify raising their price year after year when they don't do anything to warrant a price increase? This really bugs me.
