Salomon Ghost Boot...Any Opinions?

I'm looking at purchasing a pair of these boots. I was wondering if anyone has a pair or has heard anything good or bad about them.

I was talking with someone and apparently they are brutal in cold weather.  I guess they aren't warm at all.

I have heard many people say they are awesome. However my brother (who is a bootfitter) spend two days in them last year and send them back. Too cold was one of his issues. A layer of ice formed between the shell and the liner. I didn't get a chance to give them a try unfortunately. Despite a couple of reviews I've read I want to try them as so many people speak highly of them.

Also the Shogun is new for this year and is basically a 100 flex Ghost (instead of 130).

Thanks for the info... From what I have been reading they are awesome boots once you get them on. A lot of people are saying they are difficult to get on though.

Its a nice boot that is pretty much a falcon.  What makes it nice is they used a different plastic that will 'pop' you back into place after you flex it.

i just got a pair tonight and like said above they are hard to get on thats because of the tounge layering for the two buckles deal but very comfy havent got to ride them yet but theres a flex lock thing at the back which if you remove it it makes for a softer flex suuupppper light feels like a shoe really stoked

Take the liner out and put it on then slide it into the shell. Much easier and faster. You know the same way all the racer kids put on their plugs.

The Ghost liner is pretty shitty. The Shogun has the good liner for some reason, and is cheaper. Find some Falcon 10, Falcon Race or Falcon Gun for cheaper though, same fit.

I had the 08/09 ghosts... same as this years?
I thought they were too expensive for what they were :)
Comfy as fooook though :D

I'll probably get flamed for this but I though they were pretty poor for the hefty price tag. These were my experiences:

The shell fit was good for my foot shape but getting them on and off was pretty damned difficult because of the 2 buckle layout and stiff plastic. They had a rivot holding a piece of rubber that projected quite a bit into the toe box of the boot (I had to dremel it). The liner was freezing cold and seemed to get wet pretty easily. The grip sections on the soles fell of after about a week. I did some inbounds hiking and skinning in them and they properly screwed my toes.

So I sent them back and bought some Speed Machine 10s for far cheaper.

I rode these boots all last winter and couldn't have been happier. It's purely opinion in this situation where you would be better off going and trying them on yourself to see if you like the fit, etc. With that said I found them fairly solid for just about everything i was doing.

I tried on a pretty large assortment of boots before settling.

The ghost is a much narrower boot than the SPK. Where the SPK might feel very comfortable out of the box, the Ghost actually feels like a ski boot on your foot. I didn't end up getting them for two reasons.

The first is that they just didn't fit my feet as well as Dalbello

The second reason was because I felt that the boots were too expensive for something that didn't have much positive feed back from the people I knew. For the most part I was told that the boots were very cold, and that the two buckle system didn't work as well as a four buckle system as far as freeriding was concerned.

I know that one of them returned the ghosts in favor of falcons.

My friend has them and loves them but there so expensive you could get the spk pro for 100 dollars less

Ghost/Shogun=Falcon with 2 less buckles.  the 2 heavy buckles weight more than the 4 light buckles do.  4>2 .  Falcon lighter than Ghost.  So get Falcons if Ghosts fit.  I could move my heel around more in ghosts than Falcons(the buckle farther away from your toes on the lower part keeps your heel down well), and they just weren't as smooth somehow..  You can get a rubber bootboard for Falcons if you want to, something like $25.  09 Ghosts have the same flex as Falcon 10s did(not made anymore, but you can get them easily) and this years ghost is about the same flex as Falcon CS Pros(my boots, which I love).

Oh, but most importantly, if you are going to get a Salomon boot, you must get GOOD footbeds.  I'll be using Sole footbeds, SuperFeet are more popular, and either will keep your foot in place, unlike Solly footbeds.  Solly liners are crap too, so if you care a ton about that(I got footbeds, but not new liners for now) then get some good Intuitions(from the intuition site, I will if I win any comp money this year).

did u do any custom shell fitting to ur falcon cs 10's? im really curious to see if it works real good or that whole kaprolene liner on the inside of the shell is al bullshit.

i sold lots of ghosts last year to alot of guys that spend over a 100 days in there boots last year, some were great fits out of the box, and some need some modifications just like every other boot. i found people with cold feet issues usually had high insteps. which is not the best combination for this boot. i personnally think it is a great boot, and i have a feeling the people on here that rode them and liked them are stronger, or more aggresive skiers, that don't spend all there time in the park and like to charge, this isn't designed to be a park boot. its high performance free ride/big mountain directed.
