if you want to shape a jump the easy way, just wait untill a day around 3 or 4 degrees celcious and the snow will be packing snow. one smack with a shoval and the jump is hard as fuck. then when night comes sprinkle salt and then cover with water. then it will turn to ice by morning and when your ready to hit it just throw on some fresh snow and your good to go
hope this helps
Heres my basic guide to building a kicker that will last through the whole season, and maybe even longer:
You need water, a shovel, and skis.
Start piling snow. You should stomp pack and pour water on after about every foot that you put on, except the last bit, unless you're workin in pow. Once you have the basic shape, use a shovel for making major changes in the transition. Make sure you go from the top of the jump, not the bottom or side. It works way better from the top. To smooth out minor problems, sidestep up the jump and sideslip down a few times. Make sure not to dig in too much when you step up, because you are just smoothing it out, not reshaping it entirely. Before your last sideslip, water the jump. Finally, make a sick edit and post it on NS. Unless it gets unbelievably hot for no reason, this is gonna last a while, and hold its shape.
I like to make a basic layout by stacking up balls of snow ( like snowmen ) in like a staircase layout and then just use hands/ shovels to carve out a nice gradual lip. Seems to save a lot of work for me
