Replying to Why not buy used bindings?

I did a quick search, didn't find the topic.

Why would you not buy used bindings (off say NS)?

And if you say breakdown of mechanical parts and what not, how can we tell when we are buying them used what condition they are in and what is an accurate way to value used bindings?
