I got an early copy of Every Day is a Saturday and I must say, I was both impressed and surprised. Since Reasons was such a success I would have expected Johnny, Tyler and Crew to stick to a winning formula, and to a certain extent they did. But there are some really refreshing things going on in this film as well.
Granted Tim D. made the badkcountry and everything he could jib off of his prison bitch. I am going to throw this out there and you can do with it what you like. When it comes to backcountry mini golf there is no equal. Bar none. I simply do not understand how this kid isn't laced down with sponsors. I didn't think it was possible for him to step things up from Reason's and I was right...He took two steps up.
An interesting switch for this year's flick was the soundtrack. Much more eclectic and not so main stream... an great addition from the Theory 3 influence is my guess. Lots more unknowns and some shit from minnesota....Finally brother ali represented in a ski film. All very good music and quite refreshing.
I know there will be people on both sides of this one, but I found Charlie Agger's seggy really good. I just seemed to identify with him. He doesn't have the most seemless style, but he is a blue collar skier..and I dig that about him.
Rails were definitely a step up from years past. There are legit rails with every combo imaginable. I won't get into full detail but these boys destroyed.
Overall, I thought the edited and vibe was an interesting one. Not quite as athlete seggy driven as in years past, a bit more jumbled. Plus Tanner and C.R. back where they belong. It's about time boys. I think thier song was from the same dudes who did "Bled dem down" but not sure. Definitely dope though. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did. Till next year....Thanks Cheddar!
