Shaun whites backcountry halfpipe

has anyone read the article in the new transworld about shauns backcountry halpipe? if you havnt here is a quick rundown. Redbull built a half a million dollar halfpipe in the backcountry of silverton mountain in colorado. it has exactly the same measurements of the x-games pipe except it has a FOAM PIT at the last hit. to me this is absolutely nuts. if i get a chance i will type the whole article or maybe someone can find it. its pretty insane how much of a prince he is there. at one point they mention how his manager unstraps his bindings and peels his bananas. gimmie a break rite?

Wait what? Now I'm confused... Josh makes a blog post with "legit" pics. Then someone posts it on here. Then Josh alludes to it being a product of his own amazing P/S skills, and the master of sarcasm (Rowen) misses it? Ahhh fuck so confusing. I bet there are so many levels of sarcastic bullshit in here that I'm missing. And if not the lack of it is confusing me too.

with all that money red bull dropped on that you would think the would hook up dumont as well. i know hes not in the olypics but hes still pretty much there other top pipe rider

That just seems like the sketchiest place on the planet to put a pipe.  It looks like it could avi from anywhere.  So did Shaun buy his own cat and pipe dragon too?  Man, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how much $$$ is involved in this BC pipe.  Evidently it's helping out if he stomped back to back dubs.

from what i read it was close to a half a mill to make it happen. Redbull funded most of it.

No it is definately real there are some great shots in the magazine of the pipe, foam pit, and a frame by frame of shauns alley-oop double rodeo. its definately 100 % real. i will try and find the pictures on transworld.

Know what you mean.  I keep looking at it and it looks shopped.  When you look at the far away shot from the previous page and then look at the these new pics, it doesn't look like the ridge line is in the same place.  I don't know, maybe it's because I'm cross-eyed.

No, I saw it in person this past March when I was graced with the opportunity to go to Silverton.  Sadly, it's definitely real. 

Red bull was flying him around in their heli all day.  They even dropped him on the top of the double stager lookers left of the top of the pipe and he pussied out of the line (that's the only reason I think it was him).

The Red Bull heli flying him around all day was being followed by another white heli filming the Red Bull heli fly him around all day.  Such a fucking waste of money/resources.  They could've been flying me around all day!  When it flew over us as we ascended to the top of the mountain (AKA The Billboard), it pointed its cameras on us and my friend pulled down his pants and full montied the camera.  He was still pretty drunk from the night before though...

Anyways, yes it's real.  I didn't get to see him board the pipe but I did have the opportunity to not only see Sean White get chauffeured around all day by two different helicopters but I also got to see him pussy out of a line.  /claim

I actually took both those photos in mid-march after skiing the ridge line to the left of the pipe. Glad you had the opportunity to ski Silverton, the snow was so good that time of year!

wow the amount of time, effort and money that went into that just for ONE person is so dumb. Why not share it with other red bull athletes, im sure tanner and dumont could progress halfpipe skiing pretty far if they had access to that. just more proof that snowboarding is favored by redbull

There is a segment in Burton's "The B Movie" if you want to see it. Shaun does one run with back to back double corks followed by a 1080, it's pretty impressive. Lots of double cork/flip variations as well, not just the same one over and over. But yeah, waste of money to build it there, it makes for some cool shots but I doubt the promo effect is worth it.

You would think someone with that sort of setup would win every major pipe comp. Too bad he didnt.

i do think that simon and tanner could push pipe skiing but that shouldnt take away from the fact that this dude fucking slayyyed it. i would be suprised to see more bc park shit like this in years to come. and this would not have happened if pipe wasnt in the olympics... as soon as slope style hits the olympics i wouldnt be suprised to see team usa hitting a dope as slope style, or 3 side by side, in the same spot.
i love pipe and just how they explain how the snow was perfect makes me jizz haha
