I am fully aware that there has been a ton of threads on dro lately and it gets a bit obnoxious but i have a good question at least i think sooo..i posted this question on "purpledranks" thread the other day about the kid who sparked a joint at the end of his speech however i didnt get a response so i need help with this..

see whenever i bring this subject up to my parents they always say "the weed of today is far more potent then the weed 30 years ago or even 15 years ago"..is this true? I need a good, and witty response to this haha..+karma for anyone who can help...

yes its true, over the years people have found better growing techniques and better cross breads which have made the bud more powerful, which to us smokers of today is a good thing, more bang for your buck

all that means is that you have to smoke less to feel the same effects therefore lessening the damage done on your lungs

It doest really matter since you have to smoke something like 15 000 joints in 20 minutes to die from it. The union says the right number but i think i might be close to it. Either way your not going to die.

Yes, this is what you need to say. Just tell them it is indeed more potent/stronger, but since it is stronger you don't need to smoke as much as you would to get the desired effects. Say today you picked up a bag of schwag and a bag of some dank, you have to smoke way more schwag than dank to get the same high. The schwag would be like the weed of the past and the dank would be like the weed today.

No its not anymore potent, Its just the old bud they tested was in police evidence lockers and was really old and not properly stored so it lost its potency

ok so mrtskiers response, i think is partly correct. i am not positive, but i am fairly sure that that the thc content actually may be the same, if not increasing by a little bit.

the thing is, somehow when it is smoked now, somehow (i tihkn its in the growing) more thc is being released then it was back in the 60's and 70's. so when combusted the weed back then would release i think, like 10-15% of thc. these days, when smoked it releases 15-20% and sometimes around 25%.

so in a sense it is more potent when smoked, and there have been new strains developed that do indeed have more thc.

bongs dont get anymore, i am not positive but it is plain old combustion so any type of burning j's, blunts, bongs, pipes..etc. all get around the 20 mark, vapes 70% and cooking something like 100%

if you used a soldering iron, it is like vaping because the temp is lower then an open flame, so with a bong and a soldering iron you would get more thc and burn less bud

its what people used to solder wires together and stuff like that with motherboards for comps and shit. theres a ceramic heating element in them that can be used to burn herb if you take the metal part off, but only on certain ones.

Pot has definately gotten stronger, the discovery that removing male plants from female plants to prevent seeding is basically the biggest step up in growing strong buds there has been, but as said before the high is the same, its the amount of weed you have to smoke to get high thats changed. Skunk can get up to 40% THC, no bullshit, but thats dangerous to your mental health

I had a bag my mom wanted to borrow but I had weed in it, later that day I come into my room.. and my 3.5 of weed, lighter, papers and grinder (which were all in the bag) were laid out on my desk... I freaked out. thought it was my brother. Anyway, later that night (like 5 am) I woke up and found the bag with my mom's stuff... so I knew she took it. The next day she didn't say anything, as normal as could be...
Then my brother said something about drugs, I laughed cause of nervs and she's like.. are you laughing because of the weed I found? I was like uhhhhhhhhhh she's like whtevr we're all young, do stupid shit.

I was still sketched out.

a good vaporizer, although expensive, pays itself off in terms of you smoke less weed and beat your lungs up less. just isnt as much fun as ripping a sick bong

Not true,the government labs that tested the potency of weed back in the day couldn't legally purchase good bud to test until after the 1980s.So the bud they were getting was dirty mexican mids.so then when they actually could purchase good sinsemillia to test ,of course,the thc potency contained in it was much greater than what they had been testing years ago.

And thats how that myth started,if you baught good bud back in the day of a particularly good starin it would be almost identical thc content as today

this^^^  as well as back in the day no body trimmed their plants, so you got ALOT of water leaf still on the bud and in the sack. when my old man last found my sack he couldn't believe that it was just bud and no water leafs and stems. 

also the sodering iron doesn't work, it is actually hotter than a butane flame.  you need a heating element that can be adjusted to the correct temperature, not a hot element meant to melt metal.
