Thoughts on el nino . . . for you pow skiers

is this winter gonna suck because of el nino?  i talked to a dude who said he did some research and that in the past el nino winters always suck for snow fall.  anyone know anything or hear anything from legit sources?

all depends where you live... most el nino years the coastal (cali, oregon wash ak and bc) resorts at high elevation do really well due to abundant moisture, but warmer temps

yeah i found this site which looks like it might be legit, and it is predicting good for west coast, not so good for northern rockies.

In my opinion i think its going to be  a GIANT winter to help make up for the last two. Mother Nature always has to get balanced out.

There was that time 2 years or so ago where we got like 2feet in 3 days and I skied boot deep powder...I came. I CANNOT WAIT for winter this year ughhhhhhhhhhh

i do remember that, and the only time that iv seen pow in the midwest, i didnt go.


oh and i cant wait for winter too, good old pns, our 400 vert, smell the fries from the top. psh who needs montana

I remember people on the news talking about El Nino that happened two years ago and we got record breaking snowfalls and skied till June on the west coast, the east coast on the other hand had a much shorter season

1.  This El Nino better be real.  We are in a drought in CA and I wants MOAR POW!!!!!!!!!!
2.  El Nino is a bitch for the PNW
3.  The farmer's almanac said 04-05 season in CA would be the driest in a long time, it was the longest season my resort ever had, 7 months.  Farmer's almanac has been wrong every year since then.  Fuck the Farmer's Almanac.

el nino... la nina. all the same. they said last year might suck too but it didnt. as long as theres pow i dont give a fuck whether its a boy or a girl

Forecasting n00bs.

FOR THE LAST TIME, the el niño is expected to stay WEAK. IT IS EXPECTED TO HAVE VERY LITTLE IMPACT ON THIS WINTER's weather NATIONWIDE. Even if it does, EACH EL NINO IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE NEXT. Detailed forecasts will not be available until OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER. So stop subscribing to these FARMER's ALMANAC and EXAGGERATED LIES UNTIL THE TRUE FACTS COME OUT. I'm not a meteorologist but I study weather as a hobby. Trust me. I'll link you to reliable forecasts once they become available, if you want.

Oh I know that.  That's the exact reason why I called BS on anything in the Farmer's Almanac, haha.  That also means this "weak" El Nino might not be so weak.  Kind of sucks though, once they predicted a huge snow storm last year and it would have been perfect timing, but it turned out being like a foot and I was pissed.  I was hoping that 4ft. of fresh would be calling my name but instead it drifted right over my head laughing at me.
