instead of studying the assyrian empire, i spent some of last night watching mpegs of rollerbladers grind all kinds of rails and shit. those guys have it fuckin rough, everyone seems to clown on them and in my opinion without legitimate reason. i myself don't rollerblade, but after seeing what those guys can do and what they choose to do, i think that skiing owes a lot to them, even if most skiers don't know it. they hit rails faster, bigger and with much more deadly consequences than skiers do. i honestly think that rollerbladers might have the least intellegence of all 'extreme' sports, either that or their just fuckin crazy for some of the shit that they commit to. so as usual i'll probably get heckled for saying something remotely controversial, but i'll give a nod to the rollerbladers that few show love for. and if you don't agree with me, why don't you just go watch some mpegs for yourself and then consider the physics.

I dont disrespect rollerbladers. My brother is one of the best skiers ive ever seen, and he rollerblades. He is also a really good skateboarder. I respect him as an athlete, and the fact that he doesnt feel the need to conform and doesnt give a shit if people dont like 'fruitbooters'

i gotta give them props for the hits they take, but i think bmx is way nastier. its not as technical, but they go way bigger. skateboarding is probably the most technical sport. skiing really cant be compared to rollerblading unless you are doing soul grinds or something stupid like that. at least jump wise, skiers go way bigger than any rollerblader, we gotta step it up on the rails though. im sure if it were as easy as rollerblading, guys like dc would be doing real huge nasty rails, but rollerblading doesnt even come close to skiing in terms of difficulty.

alot of people never get to see real rolling. People go to a skatepark and see like 2 year olds tumbling around with rec skates and thinks thats what it is, so they automatically think its gay, but that isnt what it is at alll. to really understand what it is all about, how crazy it is, and why we as rollerbladers have such a love for it, you either have to watch some skating videos or start rollng for yourself.

Personally, I think that rollerblading is kind of difficult. Seeing how I'm used to riding around on 180 cm skis, when I get on my blades I look and feel like a jackass, because I have serious balance issues with those things. I definatley give props to the bladers because they must have insane balance, and nuts to do some of the shit that they do. I would have to say that I think skateboarding is more technical, but rollerblading is still a pretty difficult sport (or maybe I'm just a talentless bastard).
I have a theory that all retards have one long tendon that goes from wrist to wrist, so therefore that is why they always are screwin around with one wrist up, and the other one down.

my roomate is a pro, and after showing me all his movies and seen the sick stuff he pulls on campus, im really impressed. Some of the tricks they take are fuckin nuts, and alot of them take pretty big risks and land pretty hard. Its definately a more underground sport.. it might never make it big.. but the skaters dont care, its their sport and theyre having the time of their lives doing it, i respect them.

you can slow your self down on rollerblades while grinding..and you cant on skis. and then the jumps are pretty much just like freestyle walking. they do some sick shit though, but its not as tech as skateboarding

dude i went to woodward and learned how to drop in on a vert ramp, grind topside, and do corked 5s in a pipe in the week i was there. Skateboarding is sooo much harder than that. The realationship between rollerbladers and skateboarders is completely different than skiers and snowboarders. this is because theyre completely different besides the fact that you roll on wheels. Going big on rollerblades takes balls, ill give you that and nothing more.

im tired off ppl saying one sport is 'easier' then another, that makes no sense. any sport is as hard as u make it, if u dont push yourself of course its easy, but if ur always trying new shit inventing shit and push yourself then its as hard as you do so. and thats why i find rolling so amazing, theres so much to do, the possiblilities are endless, just look a any recent rollerblade movie (Words would be a good one) they do shit you couldnt even think of. and thats what rollerblading is mostly about now-a-days, making something out of nothing. this applies mostly to street rolelrbalding tho, vert is jsut a bunch of clowns getting into a little ball and spinning liek they got launched out of a blender still crazy tho.

im impartial, but i think BMX is the hardest. Given, ive never tried rollerblading, but it takes so much more to muscle around a 28 pound bike then spin on skates. It took me a solid week to learn 360's on a bike. also the consequences of eating shit on a bike are way worse that blades, cause remember when you fall, you still have a 28 pound bike chasing you down the ramp. Ill give you that freeskiing takes a lot from rollerblading. And mad props to the really good roller bladers, but most of the kids around here just drop in and stall, drop in and stall, drop in and stall. and thats it. I am friends with a bunch of skateboarders here, and they do way more than i would try on my bike. handrails are so scetchy on a bike, ill try one on skis before my bike.
