I'd always though this over in my head. I was thinking more along the lines of a surfboard than splits apart after you stand up, I never thought of using a paddle. You would slide your feet into a piece or something to lock into place. That probably wouldn't work though.

Either way, I'll stick to surfing.

very mixed opinion of these. dislike-
the paddle wave skiing- looks silly, not even the turning finesse of a 12ft. longboard, and I would constantly hit my skis because my stance wasn't wide enough.
what they call whitewater- wouldn't really work, because yaks are durable where surboards would break in whitewater. and the video was unimpressive.

like-
maybe the idea of flat water skating. may be unwieldy, but could be fun and relaxing.
definately the tow in/kite skis. they just look fun, options for huge airs, and with a bungee and a beachbreak, you could boost pretty high
