If you could have one ski movie premiere in Vancouver...

What would it be? Keeping in mind that we WILL get a premiere for PBP, MSP, TGR and likely Rage, at least. Probably Nimbus, too. If you could add one thing to the schedule that wouldn't normally get shown here, what would it be? Ride the Planets? Level 1? Meatheads would be a good one. Field Productions' flick?

PBP & Nimbus will be late October. Just waiting on the date with the venue.
It will be all ages w/ an after party.

I agree with sam, I think level 1 would be dope
but then again it looks like the meathead's flick this year has quite the vibe as well, so its a tough call

How about something like Party Snake JD? Assuming you know what I'm talking about...
Get a venue, give a shout out to the local crews like PYP, Voleurz, etc. and throw a giant party complete with multiple movie showings, an age-enforced beer garden and so on. I think it has potential, I mean voleuz sure knows how to throw a party and maybe if we include a boarder movie in there it could be a joint snow alliance party!

Let me know if you're interested in this idea, I'd be willing to help out and organize it the whole way. I might be able to get shops sponsor it too, seeing as I work for one now. Give it a thought.

Well, right now I am just kicking tires, but if it's going  to happen I'd want it early Oct so it's got to get going if it's gonna get going. I talked to Berman briefly last year to see if a L1P thing could go down and he outlined the basics of what would be involved, but I never managed to get it off the ground. If everyone on here is behind it, maybe this year could work out. It's been too long since level 1 had a showing over here, and Meatheads would be good too, even though they're pretty small. I could definitely see what Rogge has to say though.

Shoot me an email, let's see what if anything can be done.

Sent out a bunch of e-mails, let's see if the ball gets rolling.

For everyone interested (I hope it's lots of you) the first choice of venue so far is Freddy Wood theatre on UBC campus. We had a couple of premieres there last year and it's a good place to do it so that it's all ages. I am open to suggestions on that, though. Actually, I'm open to suggestions on anything.

Seems like the shore would kind of limit the people who would show up. Downtown would be good, but I don't have any idea about venues and it seems like it would be tougher to arrange. And that would probably mean it wouldn't be all-ages.

^ Hahaha. Imax would probably explode.

Currently talking to Field Productions and Level 1, contemplating early October. I will look into venues downtown, but cost wise and audience wise Wood theatre might be the most realistic. This is my last year here so I want to make this go down huge.

way back in the day i remember jeff had his photoplay theory 3 premier at hollyburn country and a bunch of people showed for that. Although it does make sense that less people would show.

party snake had their own premier/ snowboard priemier party with a fe other movies last year at the croation cultural center last year, that was fucking sick.

but yea i think that level 1 would be the company i want the most but il go to any priemier that comes if i can

If you could get a downtown venue, like The Vogue theatre that would be fucking awesome. The 'Thats It Thats All' premiere there was by far the best premiere out of every one that I went too. (I missed the partysnake premiere, and all the 19+ premieres.)

^Thing is, I'm not Red Bull and shit costs money. So whatever is most reasonable is what will happen, though nothing is set in stone as yet. It might happen the weekend after thanksgiving rather than the first weekend in Oct. I will update.

Get married in the UBC Rose Garden, come to Wood Theatre for the reception, watch a ski movie. No way that'd piss off the bride, right?
