i have a pair of anthems and i was wondering if i should get a pair of bindings in a 90 and bend them or get 100mm brakes. anyone have experience with this? ive bent brakes on px series bindings a few times before, and it was kinda hard and i ended up breaking the plastic piece once too, however its only 3 mm so idk, you tell me
It's actually a common misconception that the brake width corresponds directly to the the waist width. The brakes are actually back about 4 or 5 inches (roughly) so I am guessing on the Anthems that would be somewhere closer to 97 or 100. I was going to bend 100mm brakes for a pair of lizzies but I would have had to bend them and extra 5 - 10 mm to actually fit on the ski. Only a few mm won't make any difference though. You should go with the 100 mm brakes though. I feel like a nerd for my pointless knowledge I shared.
when you mount them dead center the brake will still be on the back half, past the waist since the middle of the ski will be between the toe and heel pieces.
even if you mount +1 or 2 from true center on a symmetrical ski the brakes will still not be dead center of the waist, that would mean mounting like +8 from true center
haha this really did turn pointless. but thanks for that little bit, it seems so obvious idk why i (and i have to assume a lot of other people) dont think of that, 100mm it is
