Replying to Generic Camera Help Thread

Alright, so I decided I wanted to do a bunch of photography courses at my school this year, as there is some pretty sweet stuff offered, and we have our own dark room. However, I knew my little sony cybershot point and shoot just wouldn't cut it. SO I went to check out my parents' new camera, and found this old pentax film SLR from way back in the day.

http://www.camerapedia.org/wiki/Pentax_ME_Super

That will basically tell you everything about it.

It needs some minor repairs (some lens/mirror alignment thing) as of right now, but its in good shape otherwise. Found it with a pentax 35-80mm lens and a 55mm lens.

Obviously I would have to shoot film, but I can live with that.

Basically just looking for thoughts/comparisons, what it would cost to get an equivalent DSLR, if its even worth using anymore etc...

Any information on using film would be much appreciated too.
