Oxycodone aka oxycontin, is a shitty, terrible drug + government conspiracy

ive had friends who got addicted to that shit and 2 things happened

they got so ugly they started to look like scarecrows

and their brain turned to fucking mushh

i have other friends addicted to other pks like hydrocodone and hydromorphone and fentanyl and they are all still sharp as a knife upstairs and havent changed at all looks wise, although they are addicted

the government conspiracy part is that they hide these side effects, what ever they are, because they can make billions by taxing drug companies who make oxycodone, especially if oxycodone becomes the new fix for former heroin addicts.  Oxycodone is synthesized from thebaine,  a toxic side product of the opium poppy. Instead of throwing away this thebaine shit, they chemically change it into oxycodone but in my opinion oxycodone has the same side effects as thebaine, which is hot flashes, feeling like your head is swollen, and motherfucking brain damage.

I think the fact that thebaine would otherwise be thrown away is why oxycodone is made from it. Most of the good, choice opiate painkillers are synthesized from morphine or fully synthesized, and I think the thousands of tons of this biproduct shit called thebaine is too tempting for them to not make a drug out of.

I hope this isnt too much,  this is simply my honest opinion and i think this information is good for people to know. Drug companies dont give a fuck about you, so dont think every pill is not gonna do bad things to you.

oxy is a very bad drug if used incorrectly.  i have had many friend become addicted to the drug and my best friend from high school kill himself partly because of his oxy addiction.  i do not blame the drug but the misuse of it.  i have seen people use it recreationally and be ok but i have seen more friends let it take over their lives.  I do not blame the drug but the decisions people make.  After a certain point there is no decision you have to do it to get through the day and that is when it is really difficult to quit.

 ps if you want to get really high on OC you have to crush it up and smoke it out of aluminum foil.

thats funny, I was thinking I've never seen so many ignorant responses... And by 'dealing with Oxycodone every fucking day' I'm assuming you mean that you just count pills and put them into a bottle, impressive.

You can always blame the individual addicts but that's just a weak attempt to avoid the larger issue.

The real problems are:

-its incredibly addictive
-its overproduced and over-prescribed
-its easy to find on the 'black market'
(honestly can any of you argue against these 3 points?)
 
Supporters of Oxycontin talk about it like its some wonder drug... Its a fucking painkiller, it doesn't cure any disease or prolong life... Painkillers are designed for one reason: to improve someone's quality of life, and all too often Oxycontin has that complete opposite effect.

I'm not saying Oxycontin should NEVER be prescribed, but there is a clear need for some sort of reform.

what I find amazing is that people fight tooth and nail against the legalization of MJ for medicinal purposes, i.e. pain relief, yet we hand opiates out like they're candy. if you want to talk conspiracy, i'd suggest you start there.

I took oxycotin for the first to weeks of summer for pain because i had knee surgery.

I can definitely see how people can get hooked on it, it makes you feel pretty damn good. For me, it's not really a "high", more of just a feeling of extreme contentment. For those 2 weeks i was completely happy with being stuck in bed all day doing nothing. But when they took me off of it i flipped the fuck out. I never really took withdrawals seriously, i thought people we just over reacting or something but now i know. I sweat profusely all day long, screamed at my family for stupid shit, had extreme fits of rage, and didn't sleep for more than 2 hours every night. It was pretty terrible.. I was able to supplement the oxycotin with a bit of vicodin every now and then, but it didn't really help. That went on for about a week and it was miserable. I also had some pretty shitty side effects. I couldn't pee sometimes and i would get a really extreme itching sensation all over my body..

Overall i think oxy should only be prescribed for serious pain (surgery, cancer, etc..) because it definitely works the best of any pain killer i have ever used.

to the dilaudid comment above, that shit is crazy. my friend was put on it after rupturing his spleen and doesn't remember like two whole fucking days. he was also in the ICU so not doing it recreationally

i got addicted to oxycodon when i was prescribed to much for my broken collarbone the doctors had to prescribe more so i could slowly work my why off it cause i got fucked up when i quit cold turkey

i think we can all agree oxy serves its purpose when needed and that while drug companies are in the industry to make money (like everyone else...) its legalization is not a conspiracy against the public. its over-prescribed at times, yes, but people have to be responsible for their own lives and decisions. my family has had friends steal from us while we were home to pawn shit for oxy and best friends throw their lives and education away for the drug so yes, i have seen how ugly it makes people. its a sad reality, but whether oxy is taken off the market or not, people will always abuse prescription drugs, especially opiates.

ok well you are being retarded

when people blow out their knees or backs and are on this stuff for months on end, its not their fault that they get addicted to such a highly addictive drug. oxy is the worst drug in ontario right now for growing addiction rates.

anyone can get addicted to it. not to sound like a pro-ho or a fag or anything but even tanner got addicted to his painkillers after his second knee injury

Percocet is a blend of oxycodone and something else. Oxycontin is a brand name of time release oxycodone. Roxicodone is the same thing too but it's not time released.

oxy is just a strong painkiller... there aren't many other painkillers that can take care of pain besides oxy.

the government realizes that people are becoming addicted and they stopped making pills that you can crush and snort or pills you can smoke. the pill composition is being changed so the minute it reacts with oxygen or something the drug is ruined and has 0 affect.

i don;t have a source but i know this is true because i know people who are prescribed oxy and their doctors/pharmacists told them. so the government is trying to prevent addiction and abuse of oxy.. fyi

wrong. oxycodone is the active ingredient in both percoset and oxycontin. oxycontin is just a time release form of oxycodone, percoset is oxycodone combined with acetaminophen i believe.

Most pain killers are incredibly addictive, the stronger the effects, the more addictive. That's usually just the nature of their interaction with the brain. One day I'm sure there will be some less addictive drugs out, but right now oxy has a purpose

Most doctors I've talked to are incredibly tight with oxy. I'd say adderall is way way way way way more over prescribed than oxycontin.

Weed is easy to find on the black market. Not trying to equate them but seriously, supply and demand. If it werent for drug addicts there wouldn't even be a 'blackmarket' for drugs.

When prescribed by a doctor, the doctors ALWAYS weigh the risk of addiction- which is not some big mystery, everyone knows that opiates are very addictive- with the benefits.

There are a lot of oxy addies in washington where I come from. I have a few friend who deal or have delt, one of whom just paid 15k out of pocket for a 4 week inpatient detox/rehab. But out of all of the people I know who have or have had problems with oxycontin, only one got hooked as a result of a prescription, and her doctor immediately started weaning her with other drugs (methadone i think).

Everyone else got hooked as the result of recreational use, and I don't feel sorry for them. They knew the risks before they tried it and deserve no sympathy.

Exactly.

The difference is percocets generally contain WAY less oxy than OxyContin

Also, vics and percs while being considerably less addictive are way worse for you when taken recreationally.
