Need help with printing

so i got a new printer today for my bday. it's an Epson Stylus NX515.

so i'm trying to print in CS4 and it always prints too dark. i've tried everything i can think of. this includes CMYK color mode, which is right for this printer. photoshop color management, high speed off, print color management disabled. pretty much everything. my only question is that maybe i have the wrong printer profile. does anyone know out of this screen shot which one it should be? or any help at all?

what kind of monitor are you using. Sounds like your monitor is calibrated poorly. I would suggest trying to work on the monitor or "adjust" your work to compensate for the darkness

I know in my media arts class we have an Epson printer and it always prints darker. Never really found out why though.

would it not make sense that if my monitor was too dark that my work would be too dark as soon on other monitors also? my work looks fine with flickr on other computers...

if you can't seem to fix it you should do some sort of adjustment so that the work looks brighter so when you print it comes out the way you want it

Calibrate your monitor - get a Spyder or EyeOne to do it properly. Most people have their monitors way too bright which would explain why you think the prints look dark.

Send me a PM, I'm not at home right now.... long story short printing is what I went to college for. if you're using CMYK to print to that you're WAY off.

your monitor AND printer must be calibrated. you can find plenty of info on it online.
