Half an AT boot?

Your best bet is probably using those alpine trekkers rather than buying an AT binding. I bet you could use a regular alpine boot with an AT binding but its going to feel weird since you dont have that flex with it.

you can use downhill boots in all at bindings aside from dynafits. the only difference is an enjoyable walk mode that helps you take longer strides and gives confidence and comfort while walking......plus a rubber sole for walking on rocks. You can simply unbuckle your top buckles of your downhill boots and you will have more of a natural movement in them while touring.

False, i have heard nothing but bad things about the trekker. Touring in alpine boots is no problem, it can get a little uncomfortable. also AT boots are really soft and won't be as good on the way down

invest in a nice pair of Fritschi's. I have Pure Silveretta on Moment Comi's and wish I would have just spent a little more for a better binding (Fritschi). Its not a bad set up and the Comi's do very well on the kind of snow I ski (cascade concrete).

I look at it this way..the money i save from not buying passes and tickets allows me to buy a new pair of skis every year or so.  

about your question..I skinned/climbed mt. adams and mt. hood in my old ski boots. theyre heavy but just unbuckle the top or see what works for you.
I used my ski boots for 5 years until the past season. I got Technica Agent AT and love them. super light and I use them on my park skis as well.  AT boots are not necessary but will make it more comfortable when youre out on long tours.

yepp, they look pretty good with the walk mode lever that actually makes a difference to the flex, kinda a trek verison of a Full Tilt boot really

I'm not claiming anything. I'm saying that if Seth thinks they're good enough then they'll work for anyone.

Garmont Radiums are alright but any other AT boot I've tried on really doesn't feel like it would flex right for aggressive skiing.

Actually BD Factors are decent too. Pretty much an alpine boot with walk mode and swappable soles.
