did a rail jam with one at the skybar by mt hood in july.  heres some thoughts i had

speed control is sketchy cause you dont wanna let goo too soon because it snaps wildly

one time the bungee came undone from the ancor and slammed a kid in the chest pretty fucking hard. 

you will want to use it on an angle, pulling straight in, it can wrap around legs.

you need 4-5 people with you because pulling it back requires a lot of strength

once you get comfortable using it, its not too difficult to use, but its pretty sketch the first few times.  this rail jam was ran by people who have used them a lot and i believe work for the company and there were still obvious problems with it.

this is the answer to tired hikers, just tie this to a rail your seshing and hold on to it while on the rail and then land and then you get shot back up the the top of the rail.

seems like a good idea, pretty sure instead of paying 150$ for that you could easily make one..
and when u pull back with someone, and the other person lets go when ur ready, wouldnt it have alot fo tension and just wank you forward??

Yeah, the exchange between hands is extremely short and if you screw it up, you're basically fucked...it has to be a quick handoff and the person getting towed in needs to be ready or you'll eat shit or it'll fly out of your hands.

my friend nick burnett snowboards on their team, so we have a couple of them, super sick for stuff that requires alot of speed, but can get very tiring pulling them back if you are dropping on a rail multiple times.

check out the backyard terrain park site. they have a number and email you can contact them with questions. i've called them before about snowgel or something and they were super helpful. so i wouldnt hesitate to give them a call or whatever.

its definately allows you to hit rails a normal drop in wouldnt, slight up hill in runs, disasters, etc. There were a few things we did this year that would not be possible without it, however for a normal rail set up a drop in is definately the way to go. Way faster and less tiring, and in most situations that you would use it, you would need atleast 3 skiers there. you get really tired pullin that thing back for 3 hours

you could pay 150 buck for that.... or you could just go buy a 18 wheeler innertube and cut it in a circluar pattern so you get one long cord and make your own.  it might now work quite as well but its a hell of alot cheaper.

What this needs is something to pair it with, like a crank or something that you could anchor to, say, a trailer hitch, and then you could pull it back into place without 4 guys.

I saw a snowboard movie where they got some small 25cc motorbikes that were meant for little kids and took off the rear tire and drilled a whole through the rim and put roap through the whole that they drilled and then lifted up the back of the bike and turned it in then opened the throttle and they made a cheaper version of a winch and used that as there drop in and they were going fast eough to jump over cars and random stuff the found.

From my experience, it is ok if you anchor it at the bottom of the rail securely. Its not too hard to get used to using, except for the first few times. The only thing I didn't like is that it requires a lot of force to stretch it with few people. But overall, I would say that its definitely worth it if you can get it for free/cheap.

the idea's sick, but that thing would just get in the way as soon as you let go of it, unless you put it at an angle to the run in so you dont run into it or generally get fucked up.
