i need to get a new car and i was wondering what the best car for a skiier would be also i live 5 hours from my closest hill so something decent on long distance trips

I drive one of the most dangerous pass hwys in the country 3-4 times a week all of ski season. it takes 4WD/AWD and being a good driver to get up there safely.

being a good driver in any conditions the winter can throw at you more useful/important than the car you drive

Good thing I did my research first. New timing belt, water pump, cam sealk and adjusters. New fuel and water pumps, new head gaskets, new tires, cv boots, thats the beauty of buying from a VW mechanic. And my awd is true awd, no idea why yours wouldnt transfer to the back tires.

I'm saying, when you want power in the back, because you loose traction in the front... "4motion" does a terrible job of transfering power to the wheels w/ traction. it's happened to me a few times in snow

Screw the crew cab, if I'm headed to the hill my friends never seem to bitch about leg room. Plus the extended cab has more room in the bed. The Double Cab's bed is 61.5 inches long. Standard regular and Xtracab Tacoma beds are 74.5 inches long. Regardless, truck = win.

Subis are so over played. Every poser amd hippie has them. Get anything that had front wheel drive or all wheel drive. You will have to decide what you like. Like said before, everyone on here will say subi, I guess thats the thing to do. i have a F-150 and I love it. Way better then a subi. Pil everyone up in the truck and throw the gear in the back. Easy.

i picked up a 2002 volvo v70 145 000km on it with snow tires and roof rack last winter and it drives so nice. we only have to fill up 2 times a month when we go skiing every weeked. super good on gas and looks pretty sweet too. just bought some new rims, tires and window tint. thule rack coming soon!!

This. You don't need all that space, but its really nice. I can get all my gear (including 3 pairs of skis) in my Camry, but its a squeeze, and snowboards don't fit at all.

I'm all for trucks but Toyota's get absolute shit for gas mileage. Plus didnt they recall some of their Tacomas and Tundras awhile back because of premature rust and frame failure?
