Is $112 worth it for Windows 7?

I want to buy Windows 7 but as soon as I saw the price I cringed. Anything is better then Windows Vista but I wonder if this is another fuck up from Microsoft. So anyways, I was looking for brief reviews/comments from people who are currently using Windows 7. thanks.

Ive heard great things about it, although i dont gots it.  Its pretty much what vista was supposed to be.

they started to fix most of windows vistas problems so ive got a feeling that windows 7 could be sick, i might have to buy it. If your unsure wait till it comes out and read some reviews

My one computer was taking a shit with XP. Gettin BSOD constant so I said fuck it and got Windows 7, and its been incredibly stable and has been performing awesome. Im with the whole well worth it so far.

i got vista. seems to be alright, but then agian,  i know jack shit about computers.   Unless the computer is a flow transmitter or other smart instrument of some sort.

My brother just got a mac for school two days ago and my mom upgraded to windows 7 (it was free), windows 7 is a lot better then vista, but it still isn't OS X. I would rather be using xp than windows 7. It is just a bunch of UI improvments and got rid of the problems with vista. Nothing innovative came out of it

id use a torrent program like bittorrent to download it for free. If you have vista now, GET RID OF IT. If you have xp id keep it. XP always seems to work.

vista runs perfectly fine now. you shouldn't blame the OS because your 512mb of RAM and shithole pentium 3 processor cant run it.

I had the vista beta for months and it was still 10x better than osx. No offense, I just hate using a mac based computer. Windows 7 is not a huge difference to vista, but I do like it. The taskbar is great except when I'm editing. I just use way too many windows for that to be effective. Way better than the osx taskbar though.

i really have not had any problems or annoyances with vista, never understood all the hate. however, i do alot of high preformance stuff (hd video, 3d animations) so is it just bugs that are fixed or does it have significant preformance improvements

dude seriously? I was just asking if it was worth it. Pretty much everybody agrees vista is fucking horrible. It's not my computer, which isn't shitty at all. It's actually a really good computer.

I'd wait a few months after its release to allow time for Microsoft and the other software companies to work out incompatibility issues that always occur with brand new operating systems. I've been running the beta on a few machines at work and it's a pretty solid OS though.

It costs 112 to upgrade from vista?  I thought it was less.

If Vista runs fine on your computer right now, I'd say it's not worth it.  If you're haveing problems though, then upgrade, 7 is definitely a better OS, but it looks and works a lot like vista.

The only problems I had were finding a driver that would install for my cell phone (Razr V3) but thats because its an old phone.  I probably would have had the same problem with Vista.

I also had to manually install my graphics driver because this computers so old it only has XP graphics drivers (Dell Inspiron 1100) but the old drivers work fine.

torrent it. i have windows 7 ultimate right now, its genuine too. this windows is seriously amazing. no problems with drivers, only one, but i manually fixed it.

ill admit its pretty similar to vista in the sense that windows explorer is almost identical, but the search feature is faster and smoother. the networking is also a lot easier. the shake and drag to the side features are extremely handy in my case as well.

i would say buy it if you have the money, if not, just download a torrent, and use 7loader, it will do everything, you just sit back and relax, and watch your vista turn into 7 in under 30 minutes.

Anyone who bought Windows 7... have you had any issues with 3rd party software?  Does your 3rd party software automatically transfer if you upgrade from Vista to Windows 7?  Any help would be appreciated.
