Sports den in slc has a few pair of the older black and orange ones.... rossi was holding them for race skis they still ad in stock! they got rid of the race skis and released what they had left in fks, BECAUSE new ones are on the way... should be available by december! From the man himself!

This  season from what i understand they wont be availabble to the public.  They have from what  i understand, the mounting pattern of the old pivot binding.

The mold for the old ones broke and it was cheaper to make the px style than to get the broken stuff retooled.  Also they say that cry baby racers were having a tough time getting their forward pressure right.

i really doubt it was because the mold broke. what company would produce a so-called "inferior" binding just because a mold broke. plus, how the fuck does a mold brake?

fks have many issues. like forward pressure, i dont want to adjust my bindings once a week, which you have to do with them if you ski hard becayse you start to get boot wobbble. also they tear right out of skis with out metal in them. also they are a pain in the ass to put on in powder because of the angle of the brake.

hopefully they address these problems in the new ones. as for me i will be selling mine most likely for some jesters.

seriously? I'd rather have a binding that's a little more inconvenient to pop into in the powder than a binding that shatters into 6 pieces from hitting a 5 ft jump.

The same fks mold was used since the 80s.  It was cheaper to create a new one than to retool the super old one to modern standards.

And for the record, the px is a 'safer' binding, but nobody wants it.  The only reason its coming back is because rossi's sales have tanked and quite honestly their skis are nothing to write home about.  This fks binding is their one last claim to fame.

the s7 is one of the better skis out there right now.
PX 15 and 18 are about the most bomber bindings money can buy (including turntables)
s5 has been one of the top do all skis for the last few years and remains at that level.
RC 112 is downright awesome
s6 is one of the best traditional fat skis out there
s3 is going to help get a lot of people to realize how great rocker + taper is, for all mountain skiing.

naw dude they have awesome product line. but yes their sales have been stagnant.
As for making a ton of sales with the return of the turntables, if that were their plan my guess is that they would be releasing more then the handful they are distributing.

Im not talking about this coming season, i am aware they they have changed the skis up considerably.  Half of the twins last year were kids skis from the previous season.  s2 = kids ghetto; s3 = kids brigade.

Nothing in the line last year was new, with the exception of the s7.  s4=ghetto s5=brigade s6=steeze

Take a look in the freeskier buyers guide.  65% of the skis pictured in this years mag are mounted with some turntable variant.  Most of the pro's setups that showcased are turntables.  The rest are Jesters and STH16.  There are few if any px series.  They just arent as durable and lack a decent elastic release.

First off you quoted Freeskier's buyers guide, which was crap. and you know it.
If you want to get on the accuracy of the 'pro set ups' look at the one of Michele Parker, read the listed skis and then look at the photo. Not the same ski. I have not actually taken the time to read every word of that piece of shit, or even look at every page or most of them for that matter, but assuming it is accurate is bad.
Second the park and pipe group is a very small section of the market.
The PX 15 and PX 18 might be more bomber then 916s, sure the non race PX series is not supper durable. But the 15 and 18 are the most durable bindings ever made, They don't break period. they break alot less then turntables do (think plastic baseplate on heel)
For 99% of skiers out there it is the best binding on the market.

I understand this full well but that small part of the market is the reason the binding is coming back.  They apparently solved the rip out issues buy using a slightly larger pattern.  The reason i got from rossi was: "the fks heel has considerably more elastic travel"  Im not arguing with you over the legitimacy of the beefed up px series, they are in fact solid bindings.  But the new fks now has the steel halfmoon, like the later fks series eliminating the broken plastic that is fairly common.  Im just saying, rossi finally realized there is still a market for their most popular binding ever, so they are bringing it back in a effort to regain market share and the trust of the market as a whole.  Fks bindings are almost a commodity on here and tgr, its too bad it almost took them 3 years to realize.

idk i've never really had trouble finding fks, and they're usually pretty cheap, i just got p18's for 140 shipped. they pop up pretty frequently on tgr and generally don't go for that much unless they're brand new

The px15/18 is a WAY better binding for racing than the FKS, which is why they went that direction in the first place. They are bringing it back mainly for their top freeriders, which is why the number is so limited. And they are going to be fucking expensive. Is it worth paying double (you can find p18 xxls for $250ish) to have them in white or orange?

apparently rossi has a MASSIVE stockpile of 120's and 155's, the black and orange ones from last production, and they're selling them to shops. 185's seem gone but lots of shops (mine included) got shipments of fks recently and are selling them for incredibly high prices

generally it's about $250 for 155's and $200 for 120's, usually a bit more though

Also, it has been a know fact that the fks is making a comeback since the start of last season.  The updated p18 will be available on shop and proform only this year, not for the consumer market.  The following year will be for the full consumer market.  This is what i have been told by rossi.
