Tanner "the fucking MAN" Hall.  Seriously after they kicked julien to the curb i lost all respect for them.  I own ARG's and quite frankly won't buy any of their stuff ever again unless it is a T-Hall pro model.  I can't believe there is only 1 thread on this.  what if in 2 years line dropped pollard.  I can't see that happening, but then again i thought for sure armada would keep julien until he retired. 

I don't want to support ARmada, but i do want to support Tanner.  Hopefully Armada gets the message and cleans up their act.

Julian is a dope skier but is nowhere near as influential as pollard so thats kinda an unfair comparison. Armada like any other company needs to adjust to a new economic climate and that means possibly cutting some of their team. Cutting him is not fun but is logical considering that he is a "film guy" and isnt getting them as much exposure as TJ. Also they probably dont have the funding to keep their old team and bring on new riders like hornbeck. All Im saying is dont blacklist Armada because of what was probably a business descion they had to make, they make a solid product and are owned by some of the most "core" guys in the industry

For real, it's pretty much morally wrong what Armada did to Julien if they really did just give him the boot without any discusion.
Tanner is awesome and so is the whole team really. However, I thought Armada was a cool rider owned, rider run sort of operation, it clearly isn't if things like that can happen. That is what has changed my viewpoint on them and is causing me to respect the company a lot less.
I want to know more about how it really is run now.

True but over the last 5 years Pollard has revolutionized switch pow skiing and I havnt seen nearly as much of a contribution from julian but yes he was a father of the sport just recently not as active it seems

Letting Julien go really made me question what kind of company armada is. i always thought it was a laid back rider owned type of thing, which i guess it is, but getting rid of Julien kinda made me question their attitude. I respect their business decisions, however, but i dont know if i like them as much as before..........

I realize that buisness decisions need to be made especially in this shitty economy, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do things.  I am just going by julien's post in the other thread, and it sounds like he is very discouraged and was treated poorly by Armada.  If what he is saying is true then that is straight up bad buisness.  If julien had come on and said something like "we tried to work out a new contract, to allow for some new up and comers but we couldn't reach an agreement so we parted ways"  then thats just buisness.  But it sounds like he got a raw deal, and that is NOT how you treat OG's of the sport and the company. 

And don't worry we will all continue to buy armada as long as the product continues to be top notch.  But the original luster of the company is gone now.  I truly liked the company, and now i just like the product, which is cool if you're just into making money.

I do not know annything about Juliens case and dont want to go into that. But a company like Arada didnt become what it is today by being laidback. I assume it is run like a real buisness with hard working and dovoted people. And withouth all armada's "buisness" stuff we probbably would not have been able to enjoy all of their nice ski tech: i.e. the JJ, lovehandels ect...

While it is unfortunate that Julien is no longer with Armada, business decisions have to be made for the betterment of the company. To say that they should keep their riders at the cost of possibly losing their company, is ridiculous. I have been at Armada's headquarters before, met Tyson Hall and a lot of their staff and they are all ridiculously cool and down to earth. I support Armada and always will. Life brings changes, get over it.

I have an armada shirt but thats about it. I would get a pair of their skis if they made something in the specs I wanted. I got the shirt because I like anything having to do with skiing and supporting them with 20 dollars of my money on a shirt can't hurt. Sucks to hear they had to drop people, but they are a business that has to make money.

i know everyone wants to get all sentimental about it and hurt by him leaving..but for 1. you dont know the whole story here. and 2. its a business...not just a bunch of people who hang out and make skis...(this is just a huge bonus!)...think about it...whats the business' main goal? to make revenue, and inturn (hopefully) profit.

if a companies overhead is to high(ergo, their sponserships are no longer making them more money than they are spending) then it makes sense from a business stand point to cut that overhead off.

now dont get me wrong, i am a huge fan of his and always will be, but this is a main reason why you dont do business with your friends. becasue when it comes down to it...if you want a successfull business, you cannot bring emotion to the table.

This is why you DON'T want to own a ski company...

It's a friggin' business. If you don't sell your product, you don't eat.

Now, as far as letting a team rider go...who cares? Julien has done a ton for the sport, and is widely respected. I read that someone posted that it's morally wrong to let Julien go...morally wrong? If you go to college, you should probably stay away from business.

The skiing world is soooo influenced by teams it's ridiculous. Oh, they have a good team they must make good skis. Umm..no. They can give money to the pros, and sell you crappy products because they know if Tom Wallisch is on a team...you're gonna buy it...in pairs.

There is a very limited time period to which someone can be an elite pro skier. 5-9 years probably, before they go and get really into "powder" and things like that. Julien has pushed it for quite a few years, it's probably good for him that he takes a step back and realizes that he is in the top 1% of all skiers in the world. If it was a dick move by Armada, that sucks...but you move on. I would guarantee Julien wouldn't come on here and say "boycott Armada, buncha douchebags".

Everyone makes it out to be some big sob story every time someone gets dropped from a team. BIG DEAL! If you can't hang with other pros in the NFL, you aren't going to play. It's dumb to think that skiing is some sort of crazy rivalry. All the pros are friends with each other, regardless of who they ski for. It's gotta be fun to be a pro, so you can come on here and look at all the idiotic posts from impressionable kids.

  And it may not be the happiest thing that happened for them, but he wasn't really doing a ton in the most recent years to help sell the product, which is probably why he got kicked off.  THe athletes on Armada's team probably wanted to keep him(at least Tanner it sounds like) but in the end they are still a company, and can't afford to pay for sponsorships unless the sponsored person is bringing in more $ than the company is paying them.  Julien is a sick skier who helped the sport a ton, but wasn't doing as much in the most recent years.  That being said, I was still surprised that he was taken off the team, and I like him and his segments alot.

Oh and tanner, are you doing to be taking your vengeance on Stevens Pass by making a sick segment there this coming year to show you are better than it??

I think Armada is really starting to peak as a brand. They are stronger than ever, really putting out the highest quality equipment, doing some revolutionary shit (Alpha, JJ, ARG) and this year launching into outerwear.

Armada make some sick shit, I mean it sucks they dropped one of the most prolific skiers of the freeskiing era, but they are not exempt from these tough economic times.

With skiing being a luxury, this industry has probably been more affected by the economic downturn than others. Add to that the fact manufacturing costs have escalated..... well you can figure the rest out.
