So its about that time, people are going to be receiving their 333skis in the next few weeks, and this is the place to post up reviews.

What I would like to see, is a general summary of your skis shape, dimensions, pics etc. Then when you get to use them on snow, a first impression. Finally, after a good season of abuse, an overall conclusion on how you like/dislike them, for the skiing, durability, etc.

If you have questions about a specific pair of skis, try to PM the poster, so the thread does not get huge and cluttered. I would like to have as many pairs reviewed as possible. If you have a general question about the construction of the skis, or whatever, just PM me.

Have the two people who own them actually skied them yet, and if so where is the review? I'm rather interested in finding out how they ride and to see whether the skeptics are right or wrong.

Nope, I have two do two things before you get an on snow review. I have to mount my Dynafits on them, and I have to warranty my Dynafit Zzero boots cuz I cracked them last year. Then I will review. Should happen my Christmas.

just my way of weighing in on this

i bought a pair of on3p's, they haven't shipped yet.

i've only seen pictures of 333's

all of mike's work that i've seen seems pretty fucking spotty, theyres a guy in spokane, his company is called sneva mfg, he'll make whatever you want. his skis are garbage.

i'm not a 333 fan at all.

The specs...

180cm length

sidecut: 130-102-124

16cm tip rocker, 12cm tail rocker, early sidecut taper to match. Think thin JJ

They weigh just under 8 pounds for the pair. Pretty good for the size I think. Don't really care though. The things I never skimp on are skis and backpacks.

Michael called me today
He basically explained what the deal is
He didn't have enough money to build and build and test and build some more and fix all the kinks. He sent out this first batch, almost expecting to have to build more (i agree, thats pretty shitty business, but he did it and that is that...). He needed money to build the skis and work out the kinks, and now that he has more of a money flow, he has fixed the problems and now is, as he says, building the high quality ski that he is supposed to be building. He is going to fix all the problems with the first customers, he will absolutely build them a new ski and solve any problems there after.

i trust the guy. by trust i mean i know he isn't going to run off with my money. What he has done so far might have been really stupid, but i think that over time, hes going to figure out how to build the solid ski that he expected.

So if im not getting the skis that i expected, then he's all for refunding my money. and then i will go ahead and get some other skis. but for now (since i wont be on snow till later in december anyway) im going to see how he improves.

I'm really rooting for this company to survive.  I mean how cool would it be to be able to design a pair of skis to your own unique specifications for a reasonable price? 

I think it is just plain sad when people hope for something like this to fail.  There is nobody here who will benefit from this company's failure and many, many people who will benifit from their success.  Sure the company might not be perfect yet, but the business was only just started and, from what I have heard, they are making giant leaps to improve it. 

I really hope to see 333skis succeed.  Don't hate guys.

So have you got your 2nd pair yet?  If you haven't what do you think the chances are that you will?  Sure hope you don't need your skis warrantied!!

BTW, you could of gotten brand new elan 888's for $250.

meh, maybe if he could act like a normal fuckin person. first his rant in which he stated that the customer is always wrong. then this little supremest number. what astonishes me is that someone who has probably accomplished virtually nothing in his life can have this atittude of superiorty, that his way is the way to find ones true passion and that bullshit. cmon dude, nut up and say " hey guys, i got in over my head. ima only make a few orders this year then give it another shot next year after i have the slightest idea of what it takes to runa business"

i realize that it took balls to right the last paragraph. but the first several paragraps are unnecessary and make him come off sounding like he thinks hes better than everyone else

you really need to stop talking. you made 4 incredibly worthless posts in a row. you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

as i said, he wasnt going to be able to make the skis on time, and he obviously didnt want me telling him what to do, so i canceled my order and got a full refund, shipping included. so if i needed to get my skis warrantied, i doubt i would have a problem, but fot shits and giggles why dont you make a third posts stating the exact same thing about his warranty?

and where can you find an Elan 888 for $250, and why in the world would i want that? the ski i created has different dimensions and is a twin tip... i dont want a directional ski....

i respect michael, but i think he shot himself in the foot and there is no one to blame but himself. If he figured things out, i have no dobut he can create the ski that he was planning on making

get the hell out of this thread, go back to TGR where you belong.

Sorry I have not been updating my own thread. I was working at Stevens this winter, and I kinda lived off the grid.

So, here is the lowdown. My pair was in the first batch. They were not up to snuff. The core was fine, but the base was cut wider than the core in a couple spots. So the sidecut was funky, and the edgehold was weird in spots. So Michael sent me a new pair. I am in the middle of moving right now, so I have not seen them yet, but hopefully the issue is resolved...

But... they kicked butt in the soft snow! They were super poppy, lively, predictable, and floated like your fat momma in the dead sea. They were dangerously squirly on groomers though. They tracked a little differently, and would kinda just do their own thing. Since these are my tourings skis, I kinda needed a new pair. But in Michaels defense, mine were the first early taper pair. So, as long as Michael fixed the issues, I forsee some pleasurable skiing in my future.

As soon as I get a look at the new pair, I will post something up. Maybe some pics?

So I got the second pair today. Here is what I think...

Visually - This pair has a different feel to the topsheet, a lot smoother, and not so janky looking. The tip and tail fill is white, also better looking. The base Material is not green, its like a super light purple. (or maybe white with purple wax, not sure, haven't scraped yet). There are also no ugly bolts in the tip and tail, much better!

Nitty Gritty - I requested that Michael not give the second pair early taper. I hope this will improve the hard snow performance.

Better? Yes! the sidecut on the second pair is not funky, it seems to be the same on both skis (I looked very carefully), I did not notice any warping, delaming, or amything like that. I still think that the edge could be more flush with the core, it seems like the base is a teeny bit too wide toward the tail (being picky). But, they are much better than the first pair, and that is what matters.

So would I spend 333 dollars on another pair? I dunno yet. Hopefully next year I will ski them and be pleased with them.

If my calculations are correct, they will feel about the same in pow pow (they kill it in pow). But where the first pair failed, I think that these will actually perform acceptably on hard snow, and maybe they will even be good?

Long story short... I spent 240 some dollars on an experimental design on a handmade ski built in a trailer, hand milled, bent, pressed, etc... and in my opinion, Michael, and 333 did a fine job. So as long as they last a season or two, I definitly got my moneys worth, but more importantly, I got to fiddle with ski design, and narrow down what I want in a "one ski quiver" touring type ski.

The only area I could see them improving more, is mechanical tolerances, and since my second pair were such a staggering improvement, they should continue to improve...

And if I like how they ski and hold up next year, I will probably order another pair for summer ski mountaineering, since they are really light.
