Where to work in Nunavut? (+k)

The minumum wage is ten loonies, I figure I could work all summer in Nunavut, and ski all winter in BC/Alberta. Its a long drive, but ten an hour seems well worth it. I really dont want to drive all the way to iqaluit every year, are there some more southernly areas where work is plentiful? Thanks, I know there arent too many people familiar with Nunavut and probably no skiiers, but any info you have would help. Thanks, and +k

are you for serious! My friend is working in Nunavut doing construction and he is making ten g's a month. I would not work in Nunavut period unless I was making that! And I dont htink you can drive from Nunavut to anywhere in ten hours...

misread your post a little there but my point still stands ... You should be able to easily find a job in BC/Alberta making $12 plus, I suggest that! Good luck.

I have worked way too many shit jobs, I live in the lower mainland (near Vancouver) ... And generally Id say you make between 12 - 16 an hour for these shit jobs. I see you are from NY though so keep in mind everything in Canada costs way way more, everything is taxed to shit so costs for everything is through the roof. Take for example liquor. I go to washington and come back with two 24's of pabst for 22 bucks and just across the border it costs me about 40 something for one 24. If you are looking to ski I would try to find a job at a ski hill as they generally hire alot of non Canadian citizens, sometimes provide lodging, and skiing of coarse. You wont make any money but you will ski alot!

Well, my plan is to go where there is the most money to be made in the summer, work my sack off at several jobs, live off of half of what Im making (in my 1974 winnebago sportsman) and save to other half for winter. Come winter, Ill quit all my jobs, ski every day until the season is completely over, and then do it all over again.

You can make $13 an hour working at MacDonalds in Banff if you work the night shift. they are always hiring, If you are willing to work at MacDonalds. You would be a lot less bored than you would in Nunavut.

haha 10 bones an hour to live in Nunavut? I got that much working in BC when I was like 15. If you want really good money in a short period of time look into the oil fields in Norther BC and Alberta. I grew up in Dawson Creek BC, and the amount of money kids were making in that town was insane, you could easily make 25 an hour if you're willing to bust your ass off. But keep in mind there is a reason why the oil fields are willing to pays so much, very shitty lifestyle and IMO not sustainable.

Hahaha all of this coming from someone who skis Castle?? You obviously havent spent very much time in Banff. Dont get me wrong I really like Castle, but its a lot more windy than the Lake or Sunshine. Anytime they get a decent storm the upper half of the mountain takes forever to open, and when it does a lot of their acreage is just windslab.

We deal with the cold by layering, it also means it never rains here. Its also a nice central location, meaning easy striking distance to Kicking Horse, Revy, Fernie and yes Castle. Theres a really strong ski touring/mountaineering community here too. There are lots of nearby hut based tours, and various avalanche education and courses are not in short supply.

Sorry that was a bit of a rant. I think you seem like a really knowledgeable person most of the time, I'm just tired of people shitting on Banff when they have obviously spent next to no time here. I mean really, the old STD joke again? At least we have women here.

^ Yeah bro, Im DEF not gonna go to banff/kicking horse. Revy, most likely. But Im not gonna work in the winter, so Ill go anywhere to work. No apartment, Im buying a camper in a few months
