Bear Grylls resume is more than impressive.  Just because Survivorman is a boring, drawn out, poorly taped version of the same idea doesn't mean he is more badass.  The point of both shows is to teach survival techniques, so who cares if one does it and one just films it in a setting?

I used to not have respect for him, then i heard his background story, and i have rekindled respect. The group is made up of thre guys, all ex SAS and all friends from when they were in the SAS, they left and started a production company, selecting bear as the main guy and the other two became the camerman and the sound technician, yes, some of it isnt as hardcore as survivorman and all that, but still, he does do some pretty gnar shit, id like to see any of you do better. Plus, anyone who is ex SAS gets my respect, its not easy to get into one of the best special forces in the world and fight with them.

Uh, he climbed everest at 23 years old, he was in the SAS back in the day in the Royal Naval Reserve, skydives to most of the "remote" areas, jumps into freezing water/quicksand/bogs,swamps,ponds with rotting carcases, eats whatever without question, knows survival skills properly and cane execute them successfully, and is a hell of a lot more enjoyable to watch than Survivor Man.  Let him go sit in a boat to stay out the rain.

Survivor man is more fun to watch IMO because it's real..

Plus Les survived for a week in Temagami..without a proper jacket..in winter. So fuck any of you who say that's not hard. It routinely goes down to -50 there.

i don't like this arguement... first of all, if you read the beginning, it says he's showing techniques on surviving in the wild... he's not just going out to survive by himself.. that's what les does and les stroud my friends, is no friend of mine...  just because he's his own camera man (probably not even true) doesn't mean he's more of a man.. he's fucking fat btw.. bear was in the (british army is what it was?), climbed everest, and is overall a bad ass.. you don't fake catching and eating those animals, or jumping off the giant cliffs and stuff he does.. the stuff he fakes, is stuff that he wanted to show but couldn't come accross.. oy

Les Stroud plays hella harmonica. If I was stranded with him in the Canadian Tundra, I'd have him play me a little bluesy riff on his harmonica while I lay down a smooth beat using sticks as drums sticks and different pieces of wood as a drum set. I guess I'll sing too since I Les has a harmonica to play and I sing a mean Joe Crocker.

simply for this reason i would rather be stuck in the woods with Les Stroud if he had his harmonica...  also because i personally feel that Bear's accent would end up getting on my nerves.
