Salomon 800's or 900's have a toe height adjustment as well as wing adjustments. There are others but take it from me (I'm a ski tech)...you dont want them. If you want a binding that has great release go with a marker turntable.

but if the height is the problem, chances are you've worn down the toe peice by walking in the boots, a good shop should be able to fix the worn part of the boot. They'll grind out some of the front sole of the boot, attach a new plastic peice, and then grind/make any adjustments needed to bring the thickness back to normal. Personally, I don't see the need for toe height adjustments, so long as they can manipulate the boots.

So, I wasnt clear as to what your original problem was? Did you not know how to adjust the toe hight adjustment (the only three bindings that have a toe hight adjustment are salomons, atomic, and dynamic) because I have pretty worn down boots and I still have been able to maintain a 0.5mm gap over my afd. Now if you have marker, rossi, look tyrolia, etc that dont have the toe hight adjustment, then you probably will have to have some shit done to your boots if they are moving vertically in the toe piece. Otherwise, if I have just totally missed the whole point of the thread then let me know. (And I work in a shop too, so there!!!)

It never ceases to amaze me how there is always one or two people on every board that hides behind a monitor and is automatically a tough guy. I was on this board for a total of 30 minutes before one showed up. KAF.
KAF, what was it about my post that that made you think you could talk shit about me? Maybe it wasn’t my post…Maybe you’re just some lil bitch who got beat up too much when he was younger and this is safer then a “Face to Face”. If you’re going to talk shit, at least know some facts first. KAF, I’m probably old enough to be your daddy and have worked in shops longer then you’ve been skiing. KAF, there are probably lots of boards where you can go cry about what ever it is that’s bothering you but think about this, Don’t shit where you eat.

Back to the post.....
I don't think he said he wanted new bindings so lets try and figure out how he can save the old ones. I'm assuming he has some 800 or 900 series solly bindings. Assuming the toe height and wing ajustment are set correctly, and the din is set for his weight and skiing ability....then he might have some shot spring. It sounds like he needs to take them in and get the height and wings adjusted again. If that doesn't go, have them test the springs...if they don't know how to do that F*(k em and go somewhere else.

There is usually a lot of adjustment vertically and horizontally on the solomons. Even if your boot fails the visual inspection, they will still probably work. When adjusting the toe highth you want it so that with the boot in the binding you can fit a credit card in there so it is snug. With the wings you want to tighten them until there is a little amount of pressure on the toe of the boot (you dont want the boot to be slopping aroung in the toe of the binding). I agree with ^ that you should probably have a shop adjust your binding and also have them callibrate them to make sure that they are releasing in the specified range.

It could probably be the forward pressure as well, but I think he is asking...'so whats a good binding with the toe adjuster '. Your right though if the boots wont pass visual some, if not most places, wont work on them.
If the boots are not too worn then I would usa a salomon or the tyrolia mad flex.

so on the 810's and 9 12's the are the teo wings suposte to be tight to the boot or should there be some flex?

You dont want to tighten them as tight as you possibly can, but you want them snug on the boot so that the boot doesnt slop around in the binding. Also be sure to pop the boot in and out a few times, just to make sure that the binding is set so that there is no 'play' in the toe of the binding.
