Leaning Back

Every time I throw a 3 I land way back seat. What can do/change to keep from landing on the tails of my skis.

try popping more off the lip had same problem but then reverted to leaning back for max thug

when you are going off the jump, instead of leaning back,  go off straight and dont lean back.

haha maybe should have said leaning back, ill try more pop and see if that helps. i always end up in the back seat on top of my bindings which is no fun. anything wrong with rotation method maybe?

It's all in where you're looking.  If you look down at 180; you will begin to cork.  The easiest way to fix that is to spin with your chin up and eyes looking forward.  Try to keep your eyes on a plane and don't look at the ground at all until you get to 270; then spot down.  Enjoy the scenery on the way around.  Practice doing standing 3's.  If you are keeping your eyes on a plane, you shouldn't have to take a step when you land.  Once you get that; go back to doing it on skis. 

Popping helps you to not take off from your heals, but if your pop is jerky it will make it worse.  This may sound goofy, but when I am helping people spin I tell them to exhale during their pop like you would if you were lifting weights.  Exhaling like that for some reason helps people smooth out their pop. 

Don't sweat it.  You already have the full rotation, you just need to keep your body vertical.

No, he probably should nollie into it, much more impressive.

My problem was I was using too small of a jump and trying to huck it so hard that I was throwing myself slightly off axis.  I eventually got it by using the same jump but just going faster and overshooting the landing lol (it was a really small jump).  Try a bigger jump so you can rotate slower and really lock it down.  Unless its a pop issue then just work on that.

If you don't grab while doing your 360 you could maybe try doing a mute grab. After I started grabbing my skis while spinning I stopped landing back seat.

going for a grab will cause you to lean forward a bit for your landing, but i would suggest a safetry grab because they are the easiest things ever. i suck at mutes after trying for the past year. i can never get my skis to cross up very well.

best thing to do, for real, is to focus on pressuring the fronts of your boots (like the shin area) reasonably on take off. keeps you in that athletic stance, and keeps you level. guaranteed to work.

keep your hands forward.. possibly try to grab mute... mostly keep hands ahead of you aat all times, then jump before you start to spin just imagine it hard in your mind before

Pop and spin are 2 different things, but if you tell someone to pop then spin they will wreck hard unless they can land a shifty 180.  You have to use the ground to create your rotation, so you actually do pop and spin at the same time. 

Don't believe me?  Next time you're in a park, wait until you are half way across the table and then try to spin.  Let me know how that works out for you.

i used to do that too. basically just pop. and wait until after you pop to set the rotation. when youve been doing it for a while it gets easier because you feel more secure. and youll likely do it better. PRACTICE!!!

not a ton tho, or you could end up in some weird bio/cork situation or just wreck hard. pop with your weight over the middle of your feet, with your shoulders, knees and toes aligned, maybe a little wind up with your before you pop, then as u pop, set the spin. This worked for me when learning to spin so hope it works for you as well

Meant it in the sense that a lot of people try to spin and pop at the same time, but then forget to pop and catch an edge on the takeoff. it's funny, but it's not quite right. So if you tell them to pop then spin, it's more along the liines "get your priorities straight" than "jump up, then do some old-school twisters."

this, and use your legs more too. pretty much from knees to shoulders and everything in between helps control your spin. don't just toss it, push off and spin with your core/shoulders/hips.
