right when i'm about to leave for college in a week, I get denied my necessary student loans i'd need to be able to attend...
This sucks... now I lose my healthcare (i have to take at least 12 units per semester - can only get 2 classes at the local JC, sooo the insurance company's gonna drop me in 6 months) and I also lose valuble time to get wasted, get with hot university babes, and try to learn on the side.
Thank god I have an 1/8th handy... i'm getting fried...
Loans and grants are completely different... Which were you denied? Grants are basically free money and loans need to be paid back. If you got denied loans through the .gov, you can still take out private student loans. Call the student loan office and ask for private loan recommendations.
I was denied a private student loan. My parents can always take out a PLUS loan thru them, but theres no way they are interested in taking out that much for my education, and then paying 8.5% on it, which is the fixed rate. It would be one thing if our house was worth anything, and that my parents could take out something on the house and put it towards my school, but right now, we are a middle class family thats basically lost everything we had gained on our house and other investments in this economy. Dad makes too much for me to get any federal aid, or grants, or even really any scholarships... but not enough to pay for me outright.
Not to mention, private loans are a total scam and the interest can go to wherever they want it to go to - especially if you miss a payment or two, you could end up looking at a 40,000 dollar loan thats gaining 20%+ interest. I'm not going to enslave myself to a bullshit loan company that is using my educational aspirations as collateral in order to own my financial life.

i had all my shit in gear to roll up to montana, and my dad's bank pulled the plug on the loan because the found out about some bullshit thing in his credit history... and we arent about to find a new situation in like 2 days - i'd have to leave this weekend to be there and all..
its just totally fucked up.

Lol. I wouldnt get a 'shit' degree at all homie. That last bit of me 'getting wasted + hooking up with hot babes" was more for humour than anything. I've already done my fair share of that during my community college years - which as I should mention, has been chock full of totally hot (and sometimes unfortunately dumb) babes.
besides... the greatest part of being the film major that I am, is that acting like a total goon is what gets you the A lol.
For me, its a semester system...
and to be honest, that halfway crossed my mind... lol.
I think i'll just move to lake Tahoe in the spring though... and just ski the whole time.
Homie, i'm 3 years deep with JC courses. 72 units completed. There literally isnt anything else I can take at my JC (which is the 2nd highest rated in CA) that would go toward either my major, or my other requirements. I'm taking a math course, a psych course and a massage therapy course (which is fucking awesome by the way) just to have something to do this fall, and to complete 2 A.A. degrees that are kinda useless but whatever they look good.
This spring, i'm moving out of state. Either to Nevada, or Montana, or Colorado, and going to try to establish residency. The cal state schools here have been hit so hard with budget cuts that I wont even be able to get into a film program... or perhaps any program for that matter.
