Are all digital cameras compatible with Final Cut Pro?

Just curious..would a 10mp point and shoot camera work with FCP 7? (It takes decent quality vids) Or do you need a fancy HD camera to use it? I just find imovie a little lacking =p

Sorry if this is a repost but I tried searching. And thanks for any feedback.
