It seems not just anybody can wrap their mind around this simple concept.  Have a better explanation as to how we came to be, that will then contradict all scientific evidence brought to the table, ever?

The problem with people who dont believe in evolution is that even when presented with countless irrefutable facts that prove evolution, they chose to ignore them and come to their own conclusions based on misinformation and opinion.

i like the theory of evolution...  mainly cause when i think, about creationism and having a God that snaps his fingers and creates/destroys different species it worries me.

and the platypus thing was an example.  i totally believe its like k-rob said...  a duck and a beaver had sex and then decided to go all Xmen on us and lay eggs.

Yes it has been proven that there is evolution within the same species. Not evolving from one species to a different one. This is a big difference.

Why is this a big difference? If a population of animals is separated into two populations, and therefore subject to different environmental conditions, and the two sub populations are evolving, it only makes sense that they would eventually become so different that the different groups could/would no longer interbreed and produce viable offspring.

And the humans getting taller thing is not evolution. Humans have not gotten taller though the process of natural selection, but by introducing growth hormones and other chemicals into our diets. You could argue that height is attractive, and so we are bred for height, cuz tall guys bang more girls, but I dunno. 5 generations is too short of a time span for any genetic mutation to become prominent in a population - at least as far as I understand how this stuff works, which is only on a pretty basic level.

Yes the two populations of the one species would change and adapt to their environment. The populations would never change species though.

i cant remember the exact story but essentially zues was cheating on his wife...  i think Hera, so Hera got someone to watch Zeus, Zeus found out, and killed the watcher and Hera took his eyes, which she thought were beautiful and put them on the feathers of her favorite bird, the Peacock so that the Peacock could continue to watch Zeus.  at least i think that is how the story goes, we had a very limited look at Greek mythology and i want to take an actual mythology class so i can learn more.  it really interests me.

i have a quick question. 

If we came from apes how come...
humans have a small fraction of the physical strength pound for pound all other apes have.  If evolution is the survival of the fittest should humans be the strongest and the smartest?

Why is the human body so poorly adapted to this planet?  Since Sumerians man has needed to significantly adapt his environment to live.  If you stripped everyone naked and we lived like all other animals, hardly any one would survive, even those in warm climates would die of radiation (aka skin cancer)

just throwing out questions i have never heard good answers for

Traits like tremendous strength were neglected in selection, perhaps even negatively selected for. Stronger and beefier individuals require more food to sustain, and in a world where intelligence and strategy had provided food in abundance through hunting, leaner and smarter individuals would have a higher chance of surviving, especially in trying circumstances.

And humans are quite well adapted to this planet for a species, even stripped down. Our species has evolved a high enough intelligence to significantly adapt our environment to whatever we need. Go watch survivorman?

There is no difference between "micro" and "macro" evolution as i assume you refer to them as. These terms do not exist within the scientific community.
It has already been witnessed with countless species. Simply google "speciation" for many examples. One would be the evolution of wolves into dogs.

I subscribe to the big bang theory. I do not know what happened before the big bang, neither do you. I dont know if the universe ever had a start.
Saying "god did it" is not a viable answer and is backed by no evidence whatsoever. (which is a lot less evidence than there is for the big bang theory.)
Once again, this has nothing to do with evolution, so if you do have any questions pertaining to evolution, i would be happy to answer them.


Also, everyone who is against evolution, please read the wiki article on it before posting in this thread. It will take 10 minutes and should clear up many misconceptions that you have.

I am not claiming that wikipedia is a very reliable source, however, this does not mean that reading a wiki article on a subject will not give you any viable information on it.
The people who are against evolution are so utterly clueless on the subject of evolution that reading a wiki article on it can be extremely useful.

the human body is comparatively weak to nearly every animal.  Our body is terrible at digesting our food to maintain the lower energy levels we need because we are less strong.

and you think because survivor man can do a tv show for a week that the human body is very well adapted to the planet? hahahahahah that's great logic.  Let me rephrase the question.  If humans had to live naked, how many places could we actually live in? ...you're thinking around the equator.  And how many people would get skin cancer within a year and die?

We dont need to be physically strong because our mental capacity makes it so we can live without the physically superiority. We can survive in more places than any other animal on the planet because we are fucking smart. We can adapt using our intelligence to build shelter and gather food etc etc.


This is actually just starting to piss me off. How mind-numbingly ignorant can you be? Seriously. At least make a fucking attempt to educate yourself on the topic before arguing against it.

Call it generalizing, but I think the majority of individuals who don't believe in evolution do so because they have been convinced by their Evangelical pastor that evolution is the devil's work. Now im not knocking religion here but you cant take EVERYTHING that the bible says seriously. My view on it is that it should not be taken 100% literally, at least the Old Testament. People read about stuff like Adam and Eve, and Jonah and the Whale, and miss the entire point. its not about Noah surviving the flood by building a boat, there's a moral to the story.

But yea, I'm a Catholic and I believe in evolution. I believe in the Big Bang too. But IMO, there was a higher power behind it all. It doesnt always have to be one side or the other. There is a middle ground, and not many people see that.

And Sorry for turning this into an argument about religion. Just trying to make a point.

... dude, that first part doesnt even make any sense. Larger more muscular creatures require a lot of energy, even when they remain at rest. Our species didnt need to have huge muscles in order to survive once intelligence started netting us food, and so muscle mass was lost, and the recouped energy used to  drive our brains and make us better survivors. I'm trying to explain this at a high school level, but really, if I'm going to fast, let me know.

Survivorman proves that with with the proper adapted know-how, humans can survive in almost any region. Before the advent of such wonderful world-connecting and enlightening technology, were there not native populations of humans in every corner of the globe, even Pacific islands hundreds of miles from the nearest substantial land mass? The only other specific species that have managed to spread like that are some types of rodents, insects and bacteria. We're a pretty fucking well adapted species for our planet.

the scenario the author presented was created to give evolutionists extra time for all these changes to take place, along with skewing other variables in favor of evolutionists.

basically 200 "part" plant over a given 10 billion years that mutated (aka grew a new cell) every 1/2 second and with the success rate of 50%.  The odds of that plant reaching 200 parts is 1 in a billion trillion

I have to interject here and admit that technology is now becoming an unknown part of our evolution.  It could be stated that our biological evolution is now changing differently than ever before, as it has given birth to a new technological evolution.  Our bodies are well-suited to the regions of earth in which we live, or else we would not be here.

Please answer me this: Why has there been no article published in a proper scientific peer review journal on biology attempting to disprove evolution? Surely if its so questionable, there would be many scientists lining up to accept their nobel prize upon proving it to be false.

thats us depending on knowledge, so we were big burley apes living with virtually no shelter then bam right out of the stone age we invent civilization, writing, legal systems, math (all the sumerians) and our bodies completely change to not being able to survive many places at all.

thats knowledge based, not physically based. Drop a human without supplies and clothes in many places in the world he wont survive, i dont care if is survivorman himself

i dont know who you are referring to. i believe in evolution but not as it stands right now. and i will not discuss what my problems with it are with you because you're pretty closed minded.

even if you whole heartily believe in evolution as scientific fact you should be able to read and consider counter points and provide evidence against their point that doesnt include "take a high school biology class"

1. Stop acting as if evolution takes place instantly. We dont need to survive as if we were dropped into the middle of nowhere naked because we are not put in that situation. it is not our habitat.
Put a dolphin in the jungle and it wont survive.. this is hardly proof of evolution not existing.

We started out living in small colonies, then became hunter gatherers etc. etc. and then civilization arose a few thousand years ago. Homo-whatevers have been living for millions of years without math or reading or writing or civilization. What the fuck are you talking about?
