Exactly!  Any living being adjusts over time to adapt to its physical environment.  There are early primate fossils from millions on years ago.  There's proof right there.  This is hardly a debate, as far as I'm concerned.  Many people just aren't willing to accept that they aren't for sure in the "elite" of the "fittest".  The catch is that evolution takes hundreds of years to develop, well out of our lifetimes, so there is no knowing how exactly we fit it. 

Hell (ironic I even use that word), evolution is responsible for different skin colors in accordance to the intensity of the sun in the given region.  ex. Swedish people are blond and light-skinned because they evolved in a cloudy region of earth.  Nigerian people are very dark-skinned because of the constant sun.

Maybe some higher power seeded life from the small microbes that began all life on earth from the start.  That part will always be uncertain I guess.  But the theory of the existence of a god or higher power is still just a theory as well.  The bible is only words on paper, and Jesus may have just been a revolutionary, for all we really know.

Ughh not this one again. Creationists and religious people in general really need to start understanding the real definition of a theory. Every time a creationist uses the whole "it's just a theory" argument it makes me want to scream. It just tells me the person saying it has never even taken a basic college level science course.

Just because the word "theory" has made it in to people's vernacular as a synonym for "guess" doesn't mean that's the actual definition. Theories aren't just random guesses, they are solid ideas that have empirical data to back them up.

And this theory of evolution has also stood for over a 150 years without anyone able to disprove it.

Did you consider the leaps of faith you take in believing the theory of evolution?

Lets take the bird for example, you would say it came from reptiles.  The reason you believe this is because scientists point out an old lizard fossil and an old, but not as old, bird fossil and point out some similarities.  Ipso-facto the bird evolved from the lizard.

well lets consider how this happened.

I think you would agree that it didnt happen like this, two lizards fucked and a bird hatched from the egg rather than another lizard.

No no, thats dumb. So you are told that over millions of years and small subtle changes the front legs of the lizard changed to wings and the scales changed to feathers.

Let me paint you a picture.
So for some reason all over the world lizards are fucking and producing babies with slightly odd front legs.  No big deal, the lizard can still walk/run normal enough to chase down its food and run from its predators.

fast forward a few million years.....

there eventually becomes a time where these lizards with odd front legs have the beginning of wings.  But those wings arent functional yet so he cant fly.  But he also cant walk/run like he use to.  As a matter of fact he is just pushing his chest and head along on the ground while his back legs do all the work.  He cant walk upright because no lizards do (i know there is that crazy lizard who can run over water for a few seconds but he doesnt live upright)

(and it wasnt just a few half lizard half bird things walking around there were millions right?)

But good news, millions of years ago animals were much nicer, rather than killing the half lizard half bird creatures they let them live till they became capable of flight. Because after his legs changed to wings it probably still took millions of years to construct a functional wing capable of flights. And since the half lizard half bird creature cant catch his own prey, they fed them all too.

Because that sounds like survival of the fittest. Look around in the animal kingdom today.  What happens to animals that are injured? they get eaten first.  What happens to baby animals that are sick or mis-figured? Depends on the animal, but sometimes the parents kill them, the parents ignore them, or they cant catch their own food so they die.

So on top of avoiding becoming extinct because they cant fend for themselves, they also avoid the conditions that are necessary to become a fossil (which i recognize is an EXTREMELY rare set of circumstances)  Have you noticed that you are shown a mature adult lizard and a mature adult bird, pointed out the similarities and then told that one came from the other. 

Show me a fossil of a half lizard half bird!!!  Show me a fossil of a creature whose scales (which are just folds in the skin and dont have their own root system like hair or feathers) is turning into feathers!!!

This species into species evolution is where i have major problems.  There is no scientific basis for it.  We have fish, mammals, reptiles, birds, and amphibians. Modern science cant mix a bird with a fish and create a new creature that is entirely different. 

Earlier in the thread someone said, were getting taller, thats proof of evolution.  I would say that is adaptation.

The human race is becoming faster and stronger with out doubt.  But thats not evolution on the scale that produced a bird from a lizard.

Why has evolution stopped after billions of years?  Why are birds not changing into some new creature the world has never seen?  All the species to species evolution just conveniently stopped millions of years ago? come on.

My point is believing in evolution requires leaps of faith as well.

There isnt even drastic evolution going on within animals today.  Sharks are being found more and more in fresh water.  But are they are not considered osmoregulators.  They are just adapting.  What if sharks lose their food sources because of us, are they going to sprout legs and find food on land? no they will go extinct.
