Pow/ Everyday ski advice needed.

So im in the market for a new pow and all mtn/everyday ski. I'm thinking a rocker would be the way to go. The way skis have been going soon camber pow skis miight not exist. I want something i can charge on, drop cliffs, go fast in open areas, rip through crud/ mank ect as well as being able to move around in tight chutes when i need to (this is why i think rocker might be good) I'm 6' 175lbs agressive skier. I have park skis so park performance means nothing to me. I;m looking at:

-186 09/2010 Volkl Gotama (not too sure about the long rocker, might might be good all over)
-189 k2 Obsethed (maybe too soft?)
-Other suggestions? but i want something thats easy to find so no super specialized skis.

I guess my main issues are will the seth be stiff enough? Does anyone have a rocker shot of it? My current skis are pretty soft and i find the tips flapping all over the place. Whats with the gotama tips? there super low. will the rocker make up for this?

Also the 186 length looks nice, i think its more like a 187 or so. The seth measures out a bit longer.

Gotama 2010 rocker and Obsethed rocker are similar, just Obsetheds have a bit more rise and are a bit shorter. 2010 gots if I remember right have a low profile tip after the rocker, Obsethed normal big tip after the rocker. Of those two, I would go for the Gots probably, but they are both going to be great skis. Obsetheds are softer if you wanted that for butters and stuff though. my other though is 191 Shoguns(shorter than 189 Obsetheds), they have a somewhat stiff flex, but the bamboo alows them to be super poppy and stable. They also have a similar rocker as the other two, maby the smallest of the 3 but won't be a massive lost. Cody Townsend was killing them on the one jump at Hoods public park, thats how I know the rocker and flex. They looked incredibly fun, and he was practicing switch hits with them and the tips/tails didn't catch at all because of the rocker keeping them a bit up(while being low profile enough to still help edge hold).

I use obsetheds as my all-mountain/charging ski, and they're pretty legit. I wish they were a little longer, but I'm a little bigger than you (6'3", 190lbs). The only times I've wished they were stiffer is skiing crusty hardpack or heavy powder with death cookies or avi debris. But certain conditions are just always going to be gnarly. They're a solid choice.

And I've never ridden them, but I have friends who would definitely vouch for ON3P Wrenegades too. They're a little stiffer and I think they can take big drops and more technical terrain a little better than Obsetheds.

i've been going through a similar debate. I skied the gotama 2 weeks ago and loved it, i really want to ski the seth to compare but i also think it might be too soft. The gotama is a awesome ski, really easy to ski, fun to charge on. Volkl nailed the re design for sure. I'd be interested in a rocker pic of obSethed if anyone has one.

yeh i agree they look nice, however i'm in south america and need some skis now so thats not gonna work. Any word on flex/rocker differences? shapes pretty similar

read my post up a few..I gave you the both those. Obsetheds are soft, they are a fun ski but if you are in lots of crud they might not give much control. Gots are stiffer(2010s)but still not that stiff if I remember right, with a lower profile longer rocker and lower profile tip, so they will do better in crud. Obsetheds will float better from being soft, but both will float well. Again, another one to look up, probably available in South America that fits what you want(all mountain/pow ski) is Shoguns, with similar rocker to those two, bamboo core.

and not sure on Shogun rise, but it is 40cm into the ski(probably 40cm+low profile tip length) and I remember it being between Gotama and Obsethed.

Personally, I was not super impressed when I fondled the new gotama, though some seem impressed. Super low tip profile, weird rocker...I dunno.

I personally think the seth is a better ski, and you could definitely handle the 189cm length at 6'. So between those two, that is the choice I would go with.

Neither have a ton of rocker, so they won't ski significantly shorter like an EP pro or hellbent will.

kung fujas instead of obsethed, they are a much better all arround ski than the seth. im not saying the seth is bad, its also a super sick ski but a little less versitle

i agree that its definitely a funky ski, but it seems that everyone whose skied it loved it and people who haven't say it looks weird and can't imagine it skiing as well as some other skis. I'd get the seth straight up if it was a bit more of a charging ski as opposed to softer BC jib ski. You don't know if the 189 seth is stiffer than the 179 do you? if it is i might go for that.

depending on how much switch riding your gonna do the seth would be killer but i would honestly go with the 179 they will be way much more nimble in the trees if your gonna be doin any of that. however if all you want is a fast hard charging wide open cliff stomper rock the 189

Of the skis I have skied, I would recomend 193 EHPs or 193 Prior Overloards. EHPs being overall a bit more turny and the overloards a bit more stable.

I havent skied them, but the price is awesome, company is awesome and they have been mentioned a few times. 191 ON3P Wrenegade.

I personally swore up down and sideways I would buy a pair of 186 EHPs after I skied them, but decided to go with 186 ON3P Billy Goats instead for a few reasons. I have seen too many 4Frnts fall apart, ON3Ps prices cant be beat, and company just seems very genuine to me. The reviews, and everything I have read about the company has made me confident about buying a pair.

id go with the seths. the 189 measures out about 194. Volkls usually measure short, I dont really like the low tip on the gotama either.

What many people dont know is that the 189 Obsethed has a thicker sidewall/core than the other sizes and is considerably stiffer than the 179, though still a mid-flex ski.

LL2 is very stable.
Hellbent is a beast (179) is plenty most likely unless you really charge
Big trouble is a beast
so is the new fatypus d sender

all are chargers, but in pow charges will not do as well as a softer ski. its a tradeoff

I have EP PRO, Pontoon, ARG. All are great in pow and decent on groomer. EP is soft in crud you will get bucked. JJ was amajing and a great charger. I had 185 and sold it since it just wasnt floaty enough for utah.
