So my question is if you have ever worked in a ski shop or currently do would you be able to mount these binders (pics below) because of the age, or will i have to make my own jig and mount them my self, also are there any disadvantages/risks to doing it my self?
The size of the drill bit is determined by the ski, not the bindings. Skis with metal generally use a 4.1, and ones without usually take a 3.5.
Liability is a sucky thing with bindings. Some small shops will mount bindings like that for you, but then require that you sign a release of liability and write "not tested" on the paperwork. Good luck.
your best bet is to just buy an actual bit used for mounting...you can get them here: http://tognar.com/binding_tools_boot_canting_glue_ski_snowboard.html
you would most likely need the 3.6x9mm supposing you dont have metal in your skis...
Some shops wont touch bindings over 6 years old for liability reasons... however any decent tech can mount without a jog anyay.. i mounted my pipe cleaners without a solly jog by measureing the holes etc.. took a while but its been great.
Bet your left nut those suckers are indemnified... Doesn't mean you won't find someone to mount them on the DL. Doing it yourself means probably fucking up a pair of skis. I don't think it's worth it. Better off getting newer bindings.
any tech with experience will be able to mount those, but you'll have to sign a waiver to say they arent repsonsible for anything...i'd suggest you bought a new set, but i'd still mount them for you
