Help Me with some New Computer Questions!

Today I bought a new computer (HOORAY!)
I get my girlfriends computer, and she and I share the new one I bought. But you don't care about that.

What I need help with is a few different issues.
#1 What is the best way to transfer all of my files from my old computer to my new one? Specifically, music, photos, documents, etc... I do not have an external hard drive and was thinking about using an online back-up service.
#2 With an online back-up service could I upload files from any computer and re-download them on a separate one?
#3 Is anyone selling an external hard drive, maybe about 350 gig's for cheap?

if you have a lot of files, online storage would take FOREVER. Your better off finding an external hard drive if you have lots of old files

You can get a HD for crazy cheap these days. Like 500gb for 60 dollars. Just buy one and use that to transfer your files. The online service just seems kinda silly to use.

Heres a great Western Digital for $65 it's re-certified, but I figured you wouldn't care since you asked if anyone had one they were willing to sell.

alright yes
first thing to do is get an external drive
if your going to use it later on you might as well get like a Terabyte.... their cheap external drives

what operating system are you going to run?
i would recomend Windows 7
its not out yet but the final retail version is out and its really easy to crack... and windows 7 just kicks complete ass...
seriously tho

haha no but its not that hard... and i figure why not just upgrade now to a better OS than get all your stuff set up and than upgrade in a couple months...

Yeah I've got to put 7 on my netbook eventually. I just found it humorous you were suggesting it. I bet a lot of people have no clue what 7 is even those who frequent the internet.

I was using the beta on my desktop for the longest time and just went back to vista because I was tired of 7. I have the leaked retail version downloaded somewhere, I don't think I'll bother putting it on my desktop since I'll get a new one soon, but it's for sure going on my netbook. I can't fucking stand XP.

what are the specs and stuff on that tower you built?

i was gonna build a badass tower but i help back and got a laptop so it could go everywhere with me lol

you dont need thats big of a SSD
get like a 64 to hold the OS and programs... all your media doesnt need to be on a SSD

why don't you set up a network, share your disk, and you can just transfer your files over
