I might get a place near Sunday River so im wondering how it is. Do they have good glades? i heard they had 10 ft drops, so im also wondering if that is true. Do they have a good beginner friendly park and a good intermediate/expert one? Also, how is the snow there? Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated! +K for answers
ahh the riva haha i like sunday river my only complaint is the ticket prices are fuckin steep but its def a sick mtn. the rocking chair park usually has something for everyone and is always a solid park in general the glades arent anything to write home about and the snow is solid after a good storm, bottom line sunday river is pretty smooth its nice that its so big (8 peaks) so lift lines arent usually a issue...
loon's parks are way better and they're far more progressive. Sunday River's jib park is good but there's not a good flow to it. And rocking chair is deec but it's definitely on the more advanced side.... it's pretty good though.
yo loon sucked this year. SR had jumps in rocking chair that were as massively large and nicely sculpted as west coast jumps. and the jib park has plenty of flowy lines to it
i thought loon was awesome this year. and not to mention they had runs where you could hit 9 or 10 jumps before you got on the lift, all different sizes. they didn't have a bunch of rails but i thought their jumps were way better than SR's. Besides, sunday river only had 5 jumps in rocking chair and they weren't progressive they were just big i though. But i think you're right about jib park actually they did have some fun lines. I liked the fat down bar they had
Thread poster. You sound like you would fit in very well at sugarloaf. Sr has a lot of fun stuff off the map and a few of the actual glades are really fun to get lost in.
I ski both Sugarloaf and Sunday River i feel sugarloaf has more viriety then sr. Sugarloaf has tons of glades and drops. Our max drop is about 20 feet gotta know were to go. The park at sugarloaf has a good variety not as big as sr's though. If you wanna mainly ski park go to sr. I feel thats all sr has thats really good is park.
a good park isnt as important to me as challenging, fun terraon. so in that case u guys are saying Sugarloaf? are there any cliffs to drop at the river?
if you're looking for glades sugarloaf's kick ass. Big drops that (shhh) are pretty secret and just great snow in em, plus there are a ton so you get variety.
Sunday River is always fun but they usually have a bunch of Mass skiers.. which I'm not knocking on but usually stand out because they suck and always get in everyones way. Also Sunday River gets skied off by noon after a big dump.
Suguarloaf is more of a local mountain, steeper terrain, and the best skiers on the east coast, hands down. Park is not as good as Sunday Rivers but there off trail terrain like all the previous poster said. As long as you know where to go (All the way to the left if your looking at the mountain from the parking lot), the loaf can be great.
