Surface LL2s

Hey so i bought a pair of brand new LL2s and it was such a great deal and i needed a pow ski i couldnt turn it down. I have not mounted them up yet but ive been looking at them lately and wondering did i make the right choice for a pow ski? They have some intresting rocker on them but not thaaat much in the back..But my main question is will they be able to handle the deep pow landing switch or foward? Since they are not as wide as most pow skis ex: EPs Hellbents Bibby Pros etc. The only shots i could find of someone landing switch in pow was Blake Nyman in En Route America and he was stomping everything easily but that could just be the skier. Sooo i would like to hear from some people that have expeirence with this ski landing switch/foward and pow and how they hold up to the competion..

all reviews are great(in deep pow, cliffs, etc.).  Oh and they have just as much tail as tip rocker, but the low profile tip after the rocker is a bit bigger than the low profile tail.  You will be fine, we don't need EPs(my LL2s are on the wall waiting to be skied as well, I was offered some trades all of which I put down.)  Mount -2 of true(I think I axidently did -2.5 to -3, but oh well) which is a bit past the "here" mark normally(the marks are off all the time).

yeah i was wondering that and forgot to add it in but where to mount? i was thinking just 1.5 or centered but idk.

sweet spot, for any type of skier(always skiing forward, charging, meadow skipping, or park or jib pow) seems to be -2cm of true center.  You will be happy anywhere from -1 to -3 for sure, but if you are going to be spinning and landing switch the -2 will be best.  Think about it, the low profile normal tip is a bit longer on the front than tail, so -2=about center of the running surface=beast.

I have sally 900s mounted at -1.5 from center. prime! for me, they are the ski that has everything the hellbent needed. so I mounted them the same place as my old bents and it is prime.

yeah il think about those but probably when i want to buy bindings il prob just put up a WTB for used jesters or find some new griffons.

I've got Deadbolt 18's (Peak 18) on mine, but haven't skied them yet.  Definitely looking forward to it.  If people can stomp fakie with Pocket Rockets and Scratch BC's, I figure a rockered ski that's 113 underfoot will do just fine.

good choice.

Oh and LL2s are skinnier than labeled.  Something like 137-109-130(fattest, skinniest, fattest) but float fine.

keep them and mount them center if youre gonna be landing switch in pow, mine stomp so easy its like cheating, if not so much then go -2cm from dead center.

yeah im probably just going to mount them at center..i feel skis dont ski bad or worse when they are centered and riding pow..but yours are at dead center? or at -2?

yea man thats why the tip rocker is so huge. all the surface guys ive talked with mount theirs center, makes spinning so nice and when the pows gone and youre in the park or skiing switch or whatever they are really light and easy to toss around and spin with

Anywhere from forward of center a bit to -4 of center will ski well in pow with these.  I still say -1 to -2 is best though, since that is center of or past center of the running surface.

I also just picked up a pair of LL2's, It has these mounting spots where its like "here here here here" and I measured it and Its about 1cm back from DEAD center. So when you guys are saying that your mounting center, are you talking the "here here here's" or actual measured out Dead Center?

those marks are 1cm different from one ski to the other on my pair.  Don't look at them, just measure and mount.  When we say 1.5 back, we mean measure tip to tip(no slack, is less than 188cm) and find the half way point, then subtract 1.5 from that(if that is where you wanted to mount).

i measured out dead center, put masking tape over all those marks and used a tape measure from tip to tail

i have mine -2 from tru.. i can still land switch in pow...and i suck..
you should be golden at center..i kinda wish mine were at center for park

im planning on buying the one lives(the same i believe), but i wonder how they handle groomers? I want someting next to my parkskis. That is buttery/ fatisch for the days with more snow but the need to be anle to handle the slopes too? Would they be a good ski?

he meant because they are a sucky binding, not because of the din.  Get Peak 15/18/Mojo/Deadbolt/Amplid, S912s/914s, 914 labs, STH 16s, or Vist bindings(something like that..).  Or you should get Dukes if you want to tour at Stevens(a few less problems than jesters, which have less than griffons).

the flat spot on 189 LL2s is under 100cm, which is a bit longer than 179 HBents, but part of the rocker on HBents is still effective edge on groomers because it curves into it, almost all of LL2s rocker is not effective edge on groomers because it is so abrupt. So think about that(I will most likely use mine in park a ton).  Rials and boxes will be good with a ski 109ish underfoot(actual width).  Have you ever skied a largely rockered powder ski in pakr?

they kill on boxes, and the few rails ive hit on them were very fun and stable. theyre very light for their size as well.

if youve ever skied a GS or super G race ski, imagine the LL2s like that. Large turn radius. They carve (big arcs) like mad on groomers but small turns are usually only achieved by skidding...

I loved my 189 LL2's in park so much fun. They killed it everywhere, I mounted mine dead center of the rocker points. Here is some footage of me skiing them in the park. I'm not a great park skier by any means but it'll give you an idea.

You'll love em dude! I have my 179 and 189s mounted at dead center and they're amazing. I can't count how many times I've landed front seat in the powder and watched my tips just boat to the surface.

all the park talk made me wonder where center center of running surface is- I got about -1.6 of the true center mark I made on the skis if anybody was curious.  I should probably have mounted there..(but I'm sure I won't notice a 4mm difference)

anything you read about LL2s is the same for one lifes(I'm 99% sure).  The new LL2 is different than 09s(fatter).  Take a look at the full 2010 line then decide which one you want.

The LL2 has become the One Life (same ski), and the LL1s are now fatter for the 09/10 season.

Dude your pretty good and those live lifes looked so sick they might end up being my all ski they looked a lot of fun and im def gonna keep them now haha. Ive said this before but ever since that one TC episode at canyons that park looks sooo jibby and fun haha

thoses 189s look SOO steezy in the park. I'm like 5'9" so I wonder if my 179 LL2's (that i got for a screamin deal) are gonna be a little small... They are a bit above my head if I'm standing next to them, I donno if that helps. But my 179 LL2's are only a tiny bit longer than my 171 anthem... weird. do lines just run big or something??
