just from other people i know that have been to both utah has better pow and some ok park. colorado has a better pipes and better parks

PC def isnt Breck, but still legit on the park side of things. 
Bigger mtn terrain and powder, Utah kills it. 
besides you can live in salt lake an be into some epic shit w/in 30 minutes, CO its a solid hour and a half two hours.

25 minutes to PC or canyons 15-20 minutes to brighton, solitude, snowbird or alta from my house. Can you beat that? UT hands down has better pow and the cottenwoods get 200 more inches on average than CO. PC is the only one that builds a good park but its super fun

Ummm, what pipe in Utah is better than Breck or Aspen?  It seems all the medal winners are seen here on a daily basis.

well utah has way better snow and backcountry access so if your a mtn man come here.  But as far as park and pipe... pc has said they are not having a big park next year for a few reasons so its going to be either real real shitty or aight, either way no jump over 40 or 30ft is the word.  canyons has such a fun park but nothing crazy for the slopestyle competitors. and slc scene is possibly one of the most scenster ones out if your into bein a douche

oh yea, utah also has said they will NOT be airing the World Series of Poker on tv because it is aainst ut's moral code or some bs.... FUCK THAT, 3.2 beer is water, unless you know someone special your smokin dirt

Been here since 1994.  Unfortunately there is not much of a freestyle scene here :(, I am only seeing mid season edits come out of Breck, Keystone, and PC.  Years down the road, people will realize that we are where it is at.  Look at Mammoth.  3500 acres, pretty damn good snow at 11,053ft., one of the best parks out there, if not the best, Damn good terrain.  You can get from Main Park to the peak in one lift ride and about 8 minutes.  Mammoth is fucking awesome.  We still have a huge snowboarding scene here though, almost all snowboarders are on Bear's dick and I see nothing that resort.

well, if you want easy acessability to the goods in all those categories go to utah. colorado has probobly the best in all those categories but they are just very spread out, best pow=san juans (Silverton,telluride, etc) best parks=summit county (keystone breck), best pipe=aspen (buttermilk x-games). see what i mean, colorado is spread out, and it is expensive to live near any of those things unless you want to live down in denver and deal with that mess. In utah you can live in SLC for cheap, and be at all the mtns very quickly..

so there is reallly no winner just personal preference hopes this helps.

colo for the vibe of really having skiing and sports in general all around you, utah for the powder and PC is a cool place I've hear. cali has some pretty big douches i have found, but i guess thats everywhere.

summit county blows for powder, but the rest of colorado is awesome, only problem is that its a long drive from anywhere to get to these better pow resorts in colorado. so for powder, id say utah and colorado are about the same.
for park i think they are the same, breck is awesome, keystone is ok if you dont mind being around tools all day long. last year i thought PC was just as good as breck and better than keystone. so what if they dont have extremely massive jumps? they had such fun rails and jibs.

for people, utah destroys colorado, summit county is just a bunch of rich gangster tool kids, who live there only to smoke weed and drink their sadness away all the fucking time, and maybe ski every now and then. utah actually has cool happy fun people.

Well of course I'm not skiing there constantly, but I make it over there a few times a year.  Living there would fucking suck though, I can't imagine it.  You're in the middle of fucking no where.

Forgot to add.  A kid I know that does live here in Fresno used to drive to mammoth every weekend because he was on the freestyle team over there.  Every Friday he would drive the six hours to Mammoth.

for training park/pipe Colorado has it all massive jumps and well cut pipes but i enjoy the Utah vibe better PC still has an amazing park on a prime day. Utah is wayyy warmer than coloardo and gets better snow , having lived in both locations utah gets my all around vote

Mormons are huge skiiers. Its an unspoken fact but there are mormon services sunday mornings on the Snowbird tram. Private kegs are illegal in Utah and SLC is a bunch of strip malls except for the 2 blocks near the temple. Plus Mormon girls are only into floating.

who care's if the drive from denver to summit is 2 hours because when your up there for the weekend it like a mini vaction every time expecially in the winter when school is hella iratating.

some good points some far , heres mine:

colorado is settled A LOT more then utah therefore your options of living are a lot better. the weather in colorado is def more CONSISTENT then utah. I work and live in breck and people visit the town constantly from park city because the weather can get shitty warm quick. however, the warmer weather can be a plus cause utah gets more snow overall and in larger quantities at one time. colorado it can be so fucking cold that you barely get any snow at all, BUT its more consistent in terms of snow quality. colorado's season length is a lot better with the exception of snowbird in utah. summit county powder is very ironic. people talk some much shit on the pow ridiing, but if you simply get out there for the first two hours before everyone else i promise you will have an awesome fucking time. yes, the runs are short, but they are steep and can be fun as hell. vail and the beav are a lil diff in that their runs are longer but flatter with the exception of stone creek chutes and east vail chutes. utah has all of the above and nothing compares to powder mtn near odgen NOTHING, it is like the silverton of colorado in a way. Overall living, yeah utah has its rules but stereotypes are stereotypes so dont jump to conclusions, you can still have fun utah you just wont find as many alcoholics as you would in colorado (good thing or bad thing?)

park city is a good option in utah, however, colorado has many "park city" like towns - aspen breck crested butte telluride steamboat vail avon durango- where the mountains are RIGHT there with the town. some people see this as bad of course because population increases skiers on the hill and more people to deal with. i like people and being around them.

and that is why i chose colorado.
