EP PROS IN THE EAST WORTH IT?

so i have been thinking. i might want a to invest in a pow ski. i only get out for a few pow days a year and i have no need for them now but next winter i will be able to drive and hopefully get out for some more pow days. will this be a good investment on the east or will it just be a waist of money tell me your thoughts.

it wouldnt be bad to have a pow ski even if you only ski it a couple times a year. where in the northeast do you ski

depends on your size but i find something more around the 110-115 range better. I ski stowe and smuggs

I would say worth it. Even though you would only get a few days a year out of them they would last at least 10 years. As long as you plan on using them until they are worn out they are worth it.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I own EP Pros. Sure you may only be able to use them a handful of times a season in the east, if even that, but they will be a nice tool to have for a long time. You can take them out west with you if you ever are lucky enough to take a trip out there, or you can just mess around with them on the east coast. Either way, I say go for it.

i want a pow ski i know the lizzies are fat but they arent a pow ski they are a park ski. and plus the are too short

they are not just a park ski. im short enough to use these for a powder ski in the east and they work great for tight turns in respect to ec pow skiing. check my review if youre interested.

i say get them, i have bents that i break out every time it snows over 4 inches lol

bents might be a little more versatile for the east because they are tad bit stiffer, but whatever floats your boat

He never shat on the East and I would definitely agree with nomen.  EP is going to be more expensive then a Blend, ObSethed, SFB, Lizzy, etc.  I would do any of those four that you listed off, but for what you want, go for the SFB.  Good in pow, but also holds an edge outside of the pow.

i would say get um if u can find um for a decent price if u go on d structure right now u can pick up some 4frnt vcts which would b perfect for the east coast i live and ski burke but hav gone around to other mountains if u do get um id suggest hittin up jay as much as u can

lol but dude im 15 ep pros arent cheap and niether are decent bindings. its tough to make that kinda money when you cant get a job (believe me i tried to get one)

why do kids insisting on asking which skis they should and shouldnt get.  get whatever ski you want.  go to a demo day.  do whatever it is that makes you happy.  EP's are sick, if you like them get them you'll get used to them.

I ski the east coast, I bought lizzies because i thought they were sweet, skiied them for a while, didnt like them, got rid of them. 

buy what you want to buy, don't let somebody else tell you what ski YOU should get.  if you dont like it, its not the end of the world.

i ski the north east and have been neck deep and knee deep and so on i think that constitutes as "deep days" even for the west, and i sked them on my reno jibs i cant say gracefully but it did the job...and it was rough i was looking to get a pair of pow skis too i really wanted obsetheds but couldnt find any in my price range, then i narrowed it down to sfb's and blends i would have loved the sfb but they were a little to expensive too ahah im being super cheep so i settled with the blends, i figure a 100 waist and a 132 tip will help me float and eliminate some tip dive on those pow days i also feel it might be a little better for the rest of the mnt

im all honestly it was a neck deep bomb hole and probly a few turns at nipple dead, it was about 70+ inches in maybe 5 days, above tree line on mount mansfield

I'm sorry, but I have a hard time believing this.  When we had record snow a few years ago here in CA, there was a storm that shut down the resort for a few days and I knew someone that skinned up and skied down and said it was neck deep the whole time, and that was a rare storm.

holy shit stfu stop getting so butt hurt because someone says the ski you want isnt what would best fit your situation. I agree with nomen you do not need EP pros, but go ahead spend your parents money on whatever you want. You would be fine with just blends for powder days; and that ski would be perfect for most east coast conditons. Also you do not need rockered skis to ski poweder.... yes they help alot obviously but why spend an extra 100-200 bucks when cheaper ski can do the job just fine. Now if you lived in Utah and skied alta then a ski like that would be worth it....

Fuck you! i dont spend my parents money on skis but go ahead and think that. i dont care what you or anyone else says about the east coast its a fact that the east produces better quality skiers. so what if we dont get 500 inches of light fluffy snow. 350 at jay is good enough.

Don't get rockered skis unless you are riding at least 1-2 ft of pow on your pow days, im guessing you never ski more than a foot of snow so get bacons at the most.

this thread is full of lulz. nomen does know what he is talking about, but that doesnt necessarily mean you need to listen to him (all respect to you, nomen) EPs are not an ideal EC ski. they are a niche ski, and are best in powder. that said, you can still have fun on them even without pow. they are super fun skis, real easy to throw around for their size. they will be super sick on deep days, and if you ever take trips out west. they arent amazing on groomers, or ice, but if you can stay on them, you will get by just fine. EPs are huge, floppy, and incredibly soft, but are my favorite skis I have ever used. they work awesome for my height and weight, and i hope to buy some soon. I would say go for it, if you feel like it. dont expect an everyday, do everything ski, but get ready for some of the most fun on snow you will ever have when conditions are good.

by the way, i see you're pretty new, so next time post your height, weight, and skiing style (aggressive, stylie, etc) and you will get much better info and recommendations.

Really? Who wants to be good at skiing tight trees with barely any snow under them and the east coast isn't the only place where conditions can change fast. The bottom line is where you ski, the EPs would be more of a burden on your skiing than anything.

i have a few different thoughts on this. I rock SFBs in the park as a secondary, and my mains are Moment Bibbys. Now Rocker in the park is AWESOME. Soft skis in the park are AWESOME.

I love a fat ski everywhere. On jumps they create a more stable landing platform. I ride away from alot more stuff. The swing weight is alot more, but you really get used to it. It really depends on how you ride. I would have no problem at all buying those skis, and ripping them on the ice coast. I have done it before. It all depends on how you ride, and what your prefer.

I never said the east coast doesnt produces good skiers where the fuck are you reading this... I live in the midwest i would kill to live in the east coast; my season is 3 months long............ I am just saying that you dont need those skis becasue the conditions of the east coast are not ideal for them. But go ahead buy whatever you want i dont care.

Holy shit you contradicted yourself. Your saying in this whole thread that East coast=No pow ski.

To the OP. Why did you even make this thread if your so fucking unsure. If your so unsure about this then do us all a favor and don't have your parents buy the skis because they are sure as hell going to sell out and you jewed a kid out of having a pair he deserves. If your going to put these to good use then buy them but if your going to just ride them around like a gaper and say "look what I got" then go fuckyourself.
