Howdy folks


The winter games kicks off in just over a week, the event will be sick!
Use this thread for any pre event hype, predictions, theories or whatever and then the rest!

Event kicks off with the slopestyle event at The Remarkables next Saturday 22nd

Halfpipe 28th-29th at Cardrona

Big Air on the 30th at Coronet Peak

The Athlete line up is so sick! so much is going to go down as this is part of the AFP world tour!

Do it man, i'm so happy i did it. I ski Remarkables but Cardrona and Snowpark all have sick parks too.  Plenty to do even if it doesn't snow that much always.  Lots of spring skiing I wear a hoodie most days now

Im going and competeting so stoked can't wait the field will be huge.  Anyone know how you could qualify for the ski-x or the Alpine? I miss the Opening & Closing ceremony and the party though back to Aus so shattered. 
Who else is competeing?

Talked to a few of the guys today on the lift during their practice session at Remarks, they weren't exactly stoked on the course.  The first flat rail was too sticky and guys were almost falling sliding it straight and the gap box was giving guys some issues too.  Said they liked the course at Cardrona a lot and wished they could go back there for this comp (other than the fact bobby had that course on lock) because the rails were perfect and the jumps were bigger.  Light was really flat during practice so people weren't really throwin down and it's supposed to be the same conditions tomorrow so might not be getting the sick doubles from the NZ open.

So watched the comp today, course was aveee. Only dub thrown was by jossi that I know of, sw dub 10 and he slid out on the landing. So idk runs that stood out to me were gus's, bobbys, jossis was good and wallisch landed a little messy on his sw right 10 on his first run, second run did sw 9, right 9, 9. So will see how the results are idk what I saw I imagine Gus, Bobby and maybe Jossi to be on top? Or wallishc? Didnt see henriks full runs, cleanest was bobbys!

I saw wallisch and henrik take off right after it ended so no podium for them i dont think...jossi's and bobby's were the best runs that i saw all day.  Talked to bobby on the lift, cool guy, said the course wasn't very comfortable, no one knew what to do on the barrels at the end, the box gap was sketchy, and everyone was landing super deep on the 2nd jump.  They were all amped for cardrona and dreading remarks. I think it was wallisch who in practice did like a rodeo 3 and landed suuuper deep and crashed, then yelled somethin like i'm over this stupid comp hahaha

today was pretty lame to be honest.... jumps werent big at all, biggest spins were 10s...
my predictions that top 3 are jossi, bobby and gus k

gota give props to young beau james wells you threw down so hard for a grom!
ill post results as soon as them up

to add to this rediculous shit show (who the hell decided on slope at remarks, its fucking wack to try have international pros on tiny ass jumps), the big air is to be held at coronet peak, on a jump built out of scaffolding. WTF! cardrona has a fucking sick big air jump around 80+ feet and is the most beautiful jump ive ever hit.
not impressed...

This... Cardies should of had it orrrr Snowpark, Remarks and Coro having the 2 events is a joke. Andddd Cardies already has a sick big air jump!!

Jacob Wester's first run was awesome.

Gus' 2nd was insane.

Wells brothers killed it as usual.

But yeah, course was pretty average, they needed at least 1 massive jump. Would have made the day so much better.

gona throw this out there, gus kenworthy deserved to be in there.....and in my honest opinion, tom walisch shouldnt of podiumed...who knows what the judges were smoking

Agreed.  i was towards the top though so i couldn't see what was going on with the bottom two features. i didn't think tom would podium, hopefully someone puts up a video of their full runs soon

Yeah, I thought it was pretty average too. Jumps were pretty small and the boxes looked kinda sketch. A good number of people were skipping the up box.

I thought jossi's runs were cleaner than tom's so I dunno what was going on there.

A couple of chicks took some pretty big falls off the second kicker

they shouldnt of had the gap down.... it would be sickerr to have just the up as a cannon


oh and whats worse.... they had a rail at the top, that people were throwing down on yesterday... but then today they said it wouldnt be judge coz the judges couldnt see it!!!! STUPID

T-wall's run was super clean and smooth which i think is why he won it. I agree though, Gus' run was insane and i also thought Henrik skied better than wallisch.

Im a fan of Wallisch, but cmon he can do soooo much better then that and his landings on 2 of the sumps were not clean. Same with Jossi's landing on second jump. Bobby stomped everthing super clean so would of been nice to see him on top. Also Gus stomped sw 10s both ways super clean and did a sick sw 9 but didnt see his landing on that... Idk weirddd judging!

Tom did all 9s in his second run, I thought that run would of personally scored higher just because all his landings were flawless and in his run that he won on he sketched out on 2 of the landing...

I am a huge wallisch fan but I think Jossi deserved the win IMO. His sw 10's were cleaner that wallisches and otherwise the run was pretty identical. either way, great contest on what looked like an awesome course.
