i live in chicago so i have skied east coast and west coast . the only real difference is that the west coast gets alot of powder and that in comparison the west coast is just more massive mountains and as a result crazy awesome views. im not saying the east coast doesnt have that in some places too, but generally its just a step up. its definitely something to experience at least once.

Well, if you're talking west coast, that wouldn't include the rockies, so no CO or Utah or Montana etc. Out here I find that everyone, even the "park rats" can ski the whole mountain pretty well on top of the parks. There's more snow, and bigger mountains. That's really it for differences. The rest is just how people use that. We're still all skiers though.

The problem I have is that too many people consider Utah and colorado to be west coast (but generally and more aptly designated as "west") because its so bloody far from the coast. Pretty much the equivalent to calling Missouri or Indiana east coast, which I find hard to fathom.

As for true west coast: varies so bloody much. Overall, the PNW is pretty badass, esepcially in western washington and into british columbia. Oregon is decent, and california has some insanity.

British Columbia=best of everything. We have Whistler for park, also for BC, we have Retallack, we have incredible heli-skiing in northern BC, we have the best Cat-Skiing in the world. Pretty much I'm saying there is no better place than BC.

up here in BC, it rains a lot, not that much in summer though. mild temperatures for the most part, the temp is almost always the deciding factor if we get shitloads of snow or torrential rain. we always end up having good dumps in the winter though. unbeatable mountains, ie. whistler blackcomb. lots of trees. amazing and affordable marijuana. cool people, chill police. lots of hills and mountains. really good biking too.

Oh you. You make me laugh. The oceans still exist above the states, so Canada has a West and East coast too. And yes, BC is on the west coast. The pacific is less than an hour from the 3 local Vancouver hills, and less than a day's drive to basically all the skiing in BC. We still fit in with the vibes from the rest of the west coast. Borders don't matter, the people are relatively similar.

Or maybe I fell into a sarcastic noob trap.
