yeah this is true... i was in wanaka at the time....word on the street was that danny kass tried to make a legit excuse for having weed on him "oh sorry officer, i was hitch hiking and the guys that picked me up gave me weed because im danny kass and they were trying to show me respect"....this is a true story...what a douche

they got diversion and name suppression, so as long as they do whatever is required for diversion (probably a charity donation) they're off the hook. You only get diversion once though so they should be smarter next time

danny kass is my cousin. sure, he gets ripped on for being standoffish and somewhat conceded, but he just gets tired of the masses trying to use him beyond his effort. as cousins at easter he'd always tell me, "yo pete, i'm gonna make millions off of snowboarding, just watch." sooo, 18 years later he has grossed over 39 million dollars. so i can understand his bullshit stories to cops about this and that, going to jail broke is different than going to jail with millions and having a small court system trying to take it.

at christmas, danny would say, "yo pete, i'm gonna make these gloves called 'Grenade,' what chu' think of that?" i remember saying shit like, 'yo dog, thats mad ill, make sure you hook me up when production takes off." now, 14 years later, he sends me a check for $12,000 every 3 months. pretty fucking sweet!

on my birthday danny would say, "yo pete, what chu want for your birfday?" i'd say, 'break bread you rich as fool and give me some chronic.' he'd do it and mad quantities too.

so shit, danny's the man in my book.

I do agree, he is quite the businessman. but I have to say, hes a tool doucher. $39 million is pretty damn nice, but rediculous. To many people its like he doesn't even snowboard to snowboard, just to make money(isn't true, cuz he must love snowboarding), but thats just the image he gives off. and hes a dirtbag. and a real/non hate question: didn't he hire some microsoft exec when his brother left the company?and why did his brother leave Grenade?

On Thanksgiving a while back, Matt Kass, Danny's brother, called an all out family meeting. He wanted to discuss the thoughts of leaving Grenade. He was torn with helping a product grow and taking the 12.4 million he had earned over the years. Papa Kass, that's what we all call Danny and Matt's father, simply said, "Money's a bitch to make, you've made a ton, leave the snow for a while and get a hot chick with fake titties!" Scouts honor, papa Kass just tells it like it is. So Matt left and lets just say, he's making Benjamin paper airplanes and flying them threw Double D's.

Latest update from the NZ newspaper (8/10):

"Both men, aged in their 20s, who told police they were in New Zealand as tourists, were due to appear in Queenstown District Court today. But a police spokeswoman told NZPA the pair had been given police diversion and so didn't appear in court today. If diversion is completed satisfactorily the pair will avoid having convictions to their name. They were granted name suppression.”

Police Diversion may include a lecture, community service, or attending classes.  Can you imagine Danny or Louie doing either of these... sober?

From their tweet action, it looks like this agreement was reached on/about August 4 when Louie and Danny's tweets kickstarted again.  Also, it's very possible that Danny (the van owner and driver) was the only one who faced jail or fines.

that's not the latest.

the latest is that they have completed diversion- which was a donation to charity. how much and which charity can't be released.

they had 'less than half' of 28grams of weed, 28g being the amount at which point you're assumed to be dealing it.

can't find the link to the article, but that was in the paper thismorning
