So last week my phone starts randomly shutting down, which is a piss off since I have moves to make and shit. Anyways, I have an extended warranty so I’m thinking its all good, go to the company, warranty my phone, get a loner for a few days, and pretend this never happened.
1st trip – I go to the store that’s about 10 minutes from my house. After explaining my problem and finding out I can indeed warranty my phone, they tell me that they are a franchise store. Basically that means they cant do shit to help me.
2nd trip – I go to the store that’s about 20 minutes away from my house, explain my problem and all that. They aren’t a fake store, so they can help me. The only problem is their out of loner phones.
3rd trip – get to the other real store that’s like 30-40 minutes from my house. Explain everything again, and get them to warranty it. The only problem here is that apparently I need a credit card or $100 cash deposit, I don’t have a credit card, nor do I have $100 cash on me.
4th trip – get back to the same store with my dad and his credit card, everything’s going well, the guy has the loner phone out and everything. The only problem is, now they won’t take my dad’s credit card because he’s not named on my plan. After explaining that the phone is under a company name, and that he is the owner of said company, they still won’t take his credit card. At this point he gets on the customer service line and proceeds to do work on whoever was on the other end of the line. Still no progress, now my mom, who is on vacation with her friends, has to call and authorize my dad since she set up the plan. We don’t have her friend’s number with us so we go home and call her.
5th trip – we get to the store, I brought my mom this time so hopefully everything would smoothly. I explain everything again, they get the loner phone, fill out the paperwork and whatever else they have to do. Obviously the phone is a piece, and obviously all the better phones are already loaned out, but I let that slide since that’s how it goes some times. They tell me they’ll ship my phone on Monday. So we leave and it seems all good, I’m swearing if I have to come back again I’m burning this place down at this point. Half way home I go to text one of my buddies and it turns out they didn’t transfer my contacts from my actual phone, not to mention they’re closed by this time.
6th trip – get to the store nice and early, explain that my contacts weren’t transferred and that it would be cool of they could do that for me. Apparently the diligent little worker who was there the night before came in early and shipped my phone that morning. Obviously. She also adds that’s its $15 to get my contacts from my phone, to the phone I basically paid for with my warranty, nice. Just to reassure me, she tells me my contacts will probably still be there when I get my phone back. So I leave wondering how much a Molotov cocktail actually costs, and a phone that has none of my contacts in it.
Now whenever I get a text or call I have no idea who it’s from, not to mention I went from a full keyboard to the old school number texting so texting is actually a hassle now. Add to that, I find out from my friend who frequently warranties phones that my phone’s software will most likely be completely wiped, meaning my contacts will be deleted, and thus not be there when my phone comes back. Big surprise.
