Video camera

i am wanting to buy a video camera, im looking at the hv30, gl2, dvc30, and the vx2000. what are the pros and cons for the cameras?

HV30-Newest, HD, good for beginners and has good picture/colors etc..highly recommended from most on NS

GL2/DVC30/VX2000....all relatively old, all can produce great colors with work and some knowledge of what your doing with the camera. A bit more advanced. AND THEY ALL HAVE HANDLES!!!

What is your price range? And how serious are you looking to get

around 1000, the only thing with the hv30 is my computer wont be able to support the hd files. i would like to get using all manual controls, and get pretty into it

so now i'm thinking dvc30, dvc80, dvx.  so how hard will it be to learn the manual controls? i do alot of photography, so it makes sense to me.

If you know how to do shit with photog, you'll pick it up on video instantly because its basically all the same.

My friend has DVC30 produces nice footage manual are controls are super easy to use especially since you did photography. I would still go hv30 because it's hd and well hd looks super good since you would be saving money buying the hv30 you can put the money into your computer to upgrade it to take the footage.

i would definitely take gl2 off the list. If your computer isnt that good and you want more manual controls dont go hv30. I would go dvx if you can get it, if not dvc30. Scene files are sickk

what about the dvc80? and ya im going to also try and save up for a macbook. if anyone finds a dvx that has low hours on the heads, for around 1000 please post a link here, or pm me

Just go with the dvc30, 3 chips, lot of manual controls like the dvx but smaller. My roommate scott has a dvc30, produces a real nice shot.

i wish that would happen.. but its not in this day and age...


but dont go for the dvc80.. havnt really hearrd good things about it. herd nothing but good about the dvc30 though

dvc30 should be plenty good enough. Not that many dvx100b camera go for 1000 with that low of hours. If you look around on ebay, skateperception, and craigslist you might find one in your price range.

yeah go with the dvc30. filmed with one and loved the colors. you can't beat panasonic film cameras IMO. the leica lens is great (hopefully dvc30 has one otherwise i am an idiot)...scottEC on here is selling one! get it!

bump. and im thinking of getting a normal macbook, but upgrading the ram to 4 gigs. good for editing?

just get the new pro for like 200 more better editing computer and it's ony 1200. as for the video camera, don't rule out the digital rebel t1i, hd video for like 750 then you can spend the last 250 on a decent lens

DVC30 is probably your best bet.  I'm a little bit in love with Panasonic and their cameras.  It'd be really unlikely that you'd find a DVX in workable condition with low hours for under 1000...something would have to be wrong with it or the hours would be upwards of 400 or something...

But the DVC30 is an awesome cam, the DVX's little brother.  Check out some of borland's older videos - he shot with a DVC30 for a while and the picture he put out was pretty impressive.

I'm pretty sure this is the product of a DVC30...

Nah, that's not bad, but you should try and find one with as few as possible.  Minimal wear is always best.

that should be fine, just might want to get an external hd.  ive been using basically the same computer with a 1.5tb hd for footage off of an xha1, rendering in FCP can be slow sometimes and the grafic card cant handle many changes without rendering but it gets the job done

130 isnt too bad because i believe panasonic cameras dont need a head replacement until 1500 hours.
