UV Filter for Ski Filming

and was wondering if any other filmers out there have used a UV Lens? Apparently it absorbs some rays for better color. Any ideas as to if this is really that great??

UV filter is just a clear filter to protect your lens.

UV filters can remove some atmospheric haze...that's about it. Check out a circular polarizing filter, that will actually improve your shots.

with filters, you get what you pay for. 3 for $20 means that they are really really shitty. the circular polarizer I have for my dslr is $230 by itself

Uv=protection, not much else. It's good to keep snow off your lens.
They speak the truth though, a polarizer will saturate colors (skies look awesome) and remove a good amount of haze and glare. Make sure it's circular though, a linear one may or may not mess with the camera's auto focus.

for still cameras uv filters are just for protection whereas polarizers will enhance the colors and reduce flares. remember though, putting a shitty polarizer over a good lens defeats the purpose of the lens, put in the money for a good polarizer

UV filters are pretty much only useful for protecting your lens. Get a circular polarizer and watch those colors pop!

I've got uv filters on all my lenses permanently. If I scratch a filter it isn't a biggie to replace it. way cheaper than fucking a lens.
uv doesn't do much at all though, they're sometimes called haze reduction filters and that's about the extent of what they do. if you want saturated blue skies get a polarising filter. they make a massive difference
