Who the hell is Simon Dumont?

I don't really support the gangster phase in skiing, but I have no problem with it either unless something like this happens.  The tall tee gangster thing hit skiing very abruptly, and most pros made the decision to either follow the g phase or to keep on wearing clothes that fit. watch any Simon Dumont edit before this and you will se that he chose not to be gangster.  IT IS SO GAY THAT HE CHANGED TO A "TALL TEE SKIER" JUST TO FIT IN.

I am in absolutely no way saying that people that wear tall tees are fags, or that Simon is not an incredible skier, but his change is so obviously just to fit in that I had to say something.

I agree that the beginning of the edit was gay. the skiing on the other hand made up for the gayness. it was a joke anyway.

as far as tall tee's go, ive been wearing them and baggy shit since 04. shits just comfortable when you're skiing, at least for me. I dress like that because I want my style to be viewed that way when I ski. I don't do it to fit in or imitate any pros. I actually dress the opposite when I'm not skiing but it's always been that way for me and I don't want to change.

tall tees are just a stupid fad that wont be around very long, the baggy clothes are here to stay but there is a fucking huge difference between an xl tee that is comfy to ride in and an xxxxl tee that looks fucking lame

you see football players who live your so called "rap lifestyle"

and you see football players who ONLY focus on the game and live, in your thoughts, a "normal suburban white guy lifestyle"

which one sounds more fun


skiers can do whatever the fuck they want. why does what they wear matter so fucking much. honestly, its like youre my parents telling me not to sag my pants.

what if you saw john elway or larry bird walking around wearing a tall t. would you call that gay? no. they can wear whatever the fuck they want

on a final note, your post shows that you were trying to act "more" gangster than the rest on ns by saying that you are a real gangster and we need to stop faking. i am 100% sure you are not. "We" are not trying to be gangsters. "We" are having fun skiing.

This debate will probably go on forever, but i think people just need to realize 2 simple things:

1) Skiing in baggy clothes just looks so much more steezier, and thats why people did it in the first place.  Everything just looks so much more smoother than when a skier is wearing a tight little suit like a ballet dancer.  Its plainly obvious to any gaper even that bigger, looser clothes just make for a smoother looking skier.

2) Skiers being thug is a joke.  There are no skiers that are actually real gangsters.  Skiing is one of the whitest things you can do, has absolutely nothing to do with thug culture or anything of that nature.  The reason we do it is just to have fun and to be different from most other people.  Any skier that is legitly serious about being a thug would get mowed down by any real gangster if they tried to join them or anything like that, obviously.

Someday all the hate on Simon is gonna end, then perhaps there will be some peace in the world.

But...to anyone that questions his innovation, I do remember an update from JOSS this year with something about Simon working on a double-misty 14.

If he can pull that off.....the hate will end.

I think there is a line that has been crossed at certain times. Personally, I have a couple Tall T's but not many, probably like three. But when people wear the 16X shirts that make it look like a little kid wearing his  dad's shirts, that's too much.

3. He's always hit rails, just some people have never seen or forget about older ski movies like Forward.  He always was pretty good at rails and i'm tired of hearing about how "he rarely ever used to do rails" or some bullshit like that.  Look it up, he has always been good at rails, and used to have pretty good style on them as well.

thats the beauty of free skiing. you can ski however you want.  simon dumont is a sick skier and deffinatly one of the best in the world but i dont like the way he represents skiing for the mass population.  he's kind of sold out with all his corparate sponsers and tv time.   not to say i wouldn't if i had the chance to make a buck skiing
