Alright well i just noticed today, under the arm rest in the middle of the car, there is whole the fits my ipod perfectly

in that whole there is a black box, and i realized it had some sort of outlet there.
I just assumed its for an ipod, but it doesnt fit a USB or anything, and it has some weird gold thing there too.

i tried to take a picture of it, lemme know if this looks familiar

It's probably a hook up for a VAG-Com, I don't know where the B6 has that hook up located but that is my first guess. I can check and get back to you when the b6 in my family gets home.

o so your saying its some sort of jack for diagnostics or something? what do you mean B6? you mean A6?
I have a 2001 Audi A6 wagon as well and there's nothing there

Na for reals im not really sure, I can tell you I doubt its something for you to plug in because it has that gold jack with it, it almost looks like those headphones made for cellphones.

possibly I forget exactly where the diagnostics jack for your A4 is, I can check when ours gets home.


And the B6 is reference to the Chassis of the car 1996-2001 (b5) 2002-2005 (b6) 2005-2008(b7) 2009-present (b8) (I think those years are close enough to what they really are


sorry for the confusion, I like Audi's a lot and it's just easier to call them by chassis number.

i think it might be an imput for a cell phone. my uncle uses something similar to plug his phone into his car speakers. i think thats what it might be but not sure at all. he doesnt have an audi

right, i just looked that up and figured it out, hahaha

i love this car, and if its got a ipod jack that would be epic. but then again i've never seen that plug before

went down and looked at our B6 and couldn't even find the plug you are looking for where exactly is it in the arm rest??


but I have to go with the guy who said it might be a phone jack, that was my second choice because my b5 has a phone jack under the arm rest, I just wasn't sure if the b6 would too.

ok, lift up the arm rest all the way. now all the way in the back, next to the e-brake and behind the stick  (mines a manual) there is like a deep square, half of the square is this black box thing (that fits perfectly btw)

anyone know what kinda jack it is though? so i could try my phone with it or something?

if you look at the e-brake, at the back, where its kinda flush with the normal grey interior, behind that (towards the passanger seat) is what im talking about
