Motorcycle insurance Ontario

Not many people look in regionals so i posted here.

I'm looking at getting a motorcycle for going to school and work on.
I found a 99 kawasaki zx-6r for a reasonable price, but insurance seems to be a problem.

I want to get a motorcycle because car insurance for me would be around 4000 a year(16 btw). I did an online quote on kanetix.com and it quoted me at 10000 dollars yearly. Everyone who i have talked to says motorcycle insurance is dirt cheap (sub 1000) and this seems crazy.

So, anyone in ontario with a bike, what bike and what are you paying, and what are some good, reliable bikes that can be had for cheap?

hate to tell you this, but unless you want to be an organ doner, grow up a bit and learn the roads before going to a motorcycle.
