Need help! pvc pipe jib.

Hey,
Im wondering how I should go about building a pvc pipe jib.  If anybody has any links to good threads, recommendations, etc. That would be good. thanks.

I will now save this tread by asking question that deserves answers.  What is the best way to attach pvc to the top of a wood frame?  I have used screws, liquid nails, and bolts but never been satisfied with the results of any, is their a better way?

with a single barrel pvc, i do one bolt at each end and a screw in the middle.  i also put runners made of wood or something ontop of the wode frame so that the pvc stays snug inbetween, and doesnt rock.  the  2 bolts and one screw works really well for everything from tying it down, to quick and easy replacements

wrong, 3 screws will not hold it good.

for a 10' piece i did about 6 screws. You basically drill a hole in the top of the PVC that is as big as the head and then you stick the screw down that and drill inside the PVC, your skis wont catch on the holes and its the most effective way of holding PVC down to wood

This, He is right, it wont mess up your slide at all I did the same exact thing and I couldnt tell when I went across the holes. Do it, it will work.

there is more than one way to hold a pvc pipe down, mine works perfect if you have wood runners down to stop the pvc from rolling... you're just overkilling with screws

for holding pvc in place this is what ive done

if you have your pvc and the wood, i took a drill bit larger than the size of the screw head and drilled in the side of the pvc, in four spots along a 10ft length,

the hole from the drill bit needs to be large enough for the screw to fit in and the driver with the drill

now take the screw and drive it in on an angle so it will go through the  bottom of the pvc and into the wood

this has held well for me and there is no problem with the sliding
if you need i will draw a diagram to better show what i mean

um no, using 3 screws and screwing UP INTO THE PIPE will only hold it for so long, it will eventually come undone alot faster than if you lock it down from the top.

i use two bolts, one at each end... meaning its tied down from both ends... it has never gotten loose... funny how you named your image "u fail"... you are freaking out over this, like i said before, there is more than one way to do it... congratulations on doing it differently than me? jeese

I'm just stating the obvious, sealing down something in more spots is better than fewer spots. If you hit your jib alot 8 screws will hold it together better than 3. I've built both types of rails, my first pvc for rollerblading had about 4 screws and my new one for skating has 9 (1 about every foot or so) the one with 4 screws eventuallly wiggled its way out of the 4x4 and i had to rescrew it elsewhere, the 9 screw one is still going strong.
