i was at the Astros game last night. we were getting shelled by the Giants like 8-0 in the 5th. I was sitting 2nd row on the first baseline all the way to the left up against the little media box and the dugout...one of our guys hit a pop foul that was falling straight into my lap, but the giants' first baseman, some dude named Garko, jumped into the crowd and robbed it. we were trying to punch his glove and all this other crap, but he made a real expert pull on it. my buddy even tried to yank his glove off but it was too late.
everyone around us was yelling at us for not doing more to interfere with the play...i guess instead of drinking with our friends and having a good time, we should have been psyching ourselves up in the parking lot so we'd be prepared in the event we might be presented with an opportunity to get into a fist fight with a pro baseball player.
so then after arguing with the drunk middle-aged lowlifes around us who care too much about mid-season baseball, we look to our left and Michael Bourn, the Astros left-fielder, was screaming at us from the dugout for not punching the guy in the face. in retrospect, i would have done it and gotten banned, i really dont care, and im borderline embarrassed that i didnt just go for it, but obviously it all happened way too fast.
meanwhile we all got about 10 texts apiece that all said shit like "nice play, idiot" or "nice catch, fuck head, way to blow the game"...remember we were already losing by 8 runs
anyway, then we went to the bar and saw ourselves on sportscenter...apparently even the TV announcers calling the game shit-talked us for a full minute and a half after the play, literally zooming in on us and talking shit between pitches for the next 2 at-bats...awesome
anyway, fuck the stros, i dont pay attention to baseball and when i heard we have a full 55 or so games left in the season i cant believe so many people give a shit about stupid games in the first week of august
i cant wait to move back to colorado soon and watch the Rockies again...theyre pretty sad but their games are more fun and so far it looks like they might make the post-season...
