2010 Motherships vs. 2010 Gotamas

Alright, currently i've got some Original Armada Jp vs Juliens (188's). There a pretty nice ski in softer snow. Light, lively, fun but i'm considering of selling them and getting a more big mtn orientated ski which can still rip it up when theres a foot or so of new snow. I ski NZ most of the time so i won't get skiing many insanely deep days. I basically want something reasonably stiff and about 185 in length which is great in crud and tracked snow as well as harder snow bumps you get when it hasnt snowed in a while over here. For any of you that know NZ, this will be used at TC really + cardies chutes a bit. Oh and i like to jump off stuff too. Twin tip essential

I am 181cm or so and about 170 lbs.

I'm looking at the new Gotama which looks super nice, its stiff, slightly rockered. 107 underfoot reasonably big turning radius, i've heard its pretty easy to move around in tight spots as well as being super stable in crud and at high speeds.

Also looking at the new Motherships, i don't know much about other than there 110 or so underfoot, very stiff, and have a pretty tight turning radius (don't know if its super small, might be an issue in pow)

Thoughts comments? Feel free to suggest me other skis but as much as i want something like On3p's I wanna get something over here in NZ since its winter now and that way i can use them now as well as not having to pay $100+ on shipping.

i suggest scott p4 to everyone, they're definately a finer ski then the old goats, dont know much about the new ones though....
p4s will ski anything you throw at them, even the hardest crud just gets bashed by these badboys
(not much reviews on the net about it, but i still have to find the first review to talk bad about them...)

110 under foot... slight tip and tail rocker....fairly stiff with a softer tail... mad graphics, so sick to ride!

well when i went to NZ, i skied with a guy who was on an older pair of Gotmas, he did a ton of skinning and what not and i think he had an awesome time on them

TC is also a really fun moutain. There is some fun BC at the remarkables too (some really good lift access even), but its smaller and in queenstown

After skiing the '10 Gotama, it doesn't have the same "all mountain" pow ski feel as the older version (owned the '07s for 2 years).  Rockering it makes the tips and tails super loose when charging on anything but crud/pow, and not much effective edge when freeride skidding on firm snow.  They actually feel pretty good making consistant carve turns on hardpack; they just feel squirely when you try to shorten up the turn more than the intended turn radius.

Skied the Motherships all last season in the 195cm length, and that ski is amazingly versatile if you're on top of it.  It's not as crazy stiff as many people believed going last season, but you definitely have to stay on it a bit more than something like the old Gotamas.  The Motherships skid well, and the rocker in the tip help to keep it from diving too much in powder.  Definitely one of the best crud skis I've ever skied.  PM Rom on here, as he skied the 185 as his all mountain ski at Squaw last year.

i rode motherships in a 185 last winter. they're sick. they rock on hardpack. they kill it in pow and crud. they are way more manageable than you'd assume a ski like this would be. they are fun in the trees, and even make getting through the moguls less than a complete nightmare. like someone stated above, you have to keep on them or they will quickly become unmanageable. if you do, however, they will be one of the most versatile shredders you can buy.

So ive decided to go against the mothership but add in Obsethed, Czars, and ANT's. The seths look nice, but im a little worried they'll be to soft.So choices are:
-186 Gotama
-189 Obsethed
-191 Ant
-182 Czar

I'm more interested in the stiffness of these than anything else. Want it as more of a charging ski, but still ok when theres a big dump and all around.

Yeah throw out Obsetheds in NZ charging, too soft.  Czars are another good option, you may feel ANTs have too much camber that gets deflected in hard crud, just a thought.  Why did you throw out Mo Ships?  seems like they got lots of votes.

To be honest i thought Motherships were a bit of overkill. PLus there hard to find over here. I demoed Gots yesterday and really likde it, but i feel the low tip and tails might have the tendency to dive. Especially if landing switch.  Good flex. Nice a stiff but not a 2 x 4.

oh shit  forgot you get to ski all of this season haha.  It was a record hundo+ degrees here a week ago.  If you found 10 Goats good in crud get them, they will work in pow.  All other skis on your list will be equal or worse in pow IMO(Czars have the same rocker shape(rise wise) and are shorter, ANTs are not a pow ski if you didn't know(all mountain charge) and the large camber can make them sink.  Obsetheds are too soft too charge hard crud.  Go Goats!(or Mo Ships if you can get them, they are not overkill at all! barely wider than Goats but even more charge oriented, just look at their love on TGR)
