Anyone who has had a dui

so i got one about three months ago, and i have court tuesday.

but i blew a .07 wich if i was 21 would be fine but im 17  and they threw my ass in jail

and i was wondering if anyone has had something similar and their charges got dropped?

all i can do at this point is pray i dont get fucked by the rusty pole that is the united states judicial system

This isn't minority report, you shouldn't be charged because of what might happen. Drunk driving laws are as dumb as texting while driving laws. Bad driving causes accidents it doesn't matter if you're impaired, distracted, or just some dumbass girl who can't follow signs. The VAST majority of drunk drivers make it home just fine, the rest get their lives fucked over by the cops/laws. If you're so fucking worried about it buy a car with a bunch of airbags and watch the fuck out when you're driving in the middle of the night, it's mostly us drunks out there. You cannot be pro DUI laws and pro legalization of marijuana at the same time, you hypocrites.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue? That drunk driving should be legal because you won't necessarily get into an accident? Might be true that you won't get into an accident, but statistics show you're more likely. What you seem to be saying is that being drunk makes no difference to how you drive. I'm not being like most people on here and defining drunk as 1 beer. But what you're saying is that we could hang out all night, with me just pouring beer down your throat for 6 hrs, but then you'd be fine to drive?

So what you're basically saying is that the majority of the people should be more cautious due to the recklessness of a few? Yea that makes perfect sense.

If the principle is that men must be punished if they put other people’s lives at risk, which is the guiding principle for the drunk-driving laws in this country, then we had better go all the way and prohibit driving in general. Whenever a person gets behind the wheel of an automobile, after all, he puts not only his own life at risk, but also the lives of everyone else on the road with him. If you object to this idea of banning driving altogether, then you are a cold-hearted bastard who has never known someone who has been killed in a car accident.

Of course, there is one way around this conclusion that is also faithful to the principle of equality under the law, and that is to only punish people if they actually hurt other people. This applies to drivers over 65 years of age, teenagers, mascara-applying women, and also to drunk drivers. This option can be universally applied to all human beings at all times and places, comports with the principle of equality under the law, and would not necessitate a complete police-and-nanny state.

its one thing to not drink and drive when your in a city and around a lot of public transportation, but I live in the middle of nowhere and sometimes your just forced to have to do it. especially if you get kicked out of a house etc.

of course there should be consequences, it's fucking dumb as shit. i know some kids who have been killed by drunk drivers and it's not something to be pissed about a zero tolerance law, if you drive drunk you fucking deserve to get caught

im not complaining about getting the dui, i think the consequences for people my age is redic, it fucking is, i was under the legal limit for adults, it doesnt matter im in 2 grand to the city and about 1500 into a lawyer. all together im hitting about 4 grand and got dropped from my insurance, for  two beers over three hours, fucking dumb

Yo I just got the same thing graduation day this june. They got me at a .078 with 12 over speeding, tobacco, and littering. I actually got an owi refusal which is a tiny bit more serious than yours cause I was supposed to have my license revoked for a year instead of 6 months. I got a lawyer and as of wednesday I will have a clean record, will get the points off for the speeding, and will have to pay $500 dollars in fines; as well as go to a booze it or lose it class. So yeah, I'd say there's a definite chance you could work something out.

so lets say that you are drunk and driving along a less traveled road going the speed limit but then some kid at 2 in the morning comes around the corner on his bike and doesn't stop at the stop sign. If you had been sober your reaction time would have been faster and you would have been able to stop in time or take the proper steps to avoid the incident. Although it was not your fault that the kid came around the corner and didn't stop at the stop sign and this same situation could have happened while sober. Try to tell me the day after that you didn't feel like shit and did not regret drinking and driving that night.

When leaving your house either take your keys or take your booze not both.

and your reaction time isnt that affected its usally depth perception, 99.9% of the time u would get stopped in time

this scenario works with texting, talking to friends, girls putting on make up, changing the radio

find a better scenario

i agree with this, and its the people who get superpowers when they drink that ruin it for the people who actually drive safely

i have driven drunk regetfully when i was young, and feel lucky i wasnt pulled over. but never when i knew i was in no shape to drive.

just sleep in your car with your keyes out of the ignition under the tire, its just not worth it

so what you're actually complaining about is the fact that they combine underage drinking laws with underage driver laws then bust you on both?

That i don't agree with. Fucking someone over for having a beer, then driving within a few hours just because they aren't 21? But unfortunately, that's just the way it is. I suppose it's a lesson learned, even if it sucks. But hey, at least you weren't totally smashed and killed someone, instead it's just gonna cost you money and your license.

In BC we don't have a curfew like you do in some places
Many ppl ride their bikes at 2 am such as me if i am coming home from someones house and I have been drinking and do the smart thing of not driving

And this is when you rn't even driving drunk.....

And I said in my first post that this could still happen to you sober but trying and say that you didn't do everything you could to avoid this incident.

a client of my mom had a 23 year old daughter killed in july when she was riding with a drunk driver. yes i think it is stupid that she got in when the driver admitted to have had more then 5 shots and "a few hits of marijuana" but she and another passenger were killed while the driver walked away.

they were going over 100mph on an exit ramp in Bowdoin, ME. (speed limit is 60 as its a detour route right now) and went off the side before being airborne and thrown into a tree. the passenger side took the entire impact and the passenger was dead on the scene. passenger in the back seat was also killed.

drinking and driving is probably the stupidest thing a person can do. even at a .08 BAC level, you can still make mistakes.

my friend was killed when she got in a car with a sober driver, was going 110 on the highwayand hit the median when he didnt see the little bit of ice on the road,

they fact he was drunk and high and drove is dumb but he was driving trying to impress the girls in the car and he was being reckless and dumb, know ur limits

I got my first DUI when I was 13. It's really not that bad. I covered the scent with some pussy but it didn't work. The cop didn't buy me a bear. So I went to jail. After that I got four more. I got off by saying I was Jewish and it's my religion. Fucking cops believed it.

My school is all about anti-drunk driving (ie. wrecked car, accident reenactment). One of there most common statistics that is true is that most DWI accidents happen between like .06 and .12
I consider these low numbers an that stat scares me.

Actually he's a great guy who got stuck in a shitty environment.

When he was 15 his dad murdered his mom then killed himself.

When he was 16 his guardian went to jail and he moved in with his brother.

When he was 17 he took the vandalism charge for his brother (so another guardian wouldn't go away) , being 17 he thought he would fall under youthful offender, but the judge tried him as an adult do to his past record and the crime he was tried for (that his brother did).

He didn't even try to start anything the night of the DUI, he got sucker punched then went ballistic on the kid, BAD. it should have been stopped but the first time he got pulled off the kid sucker punched him again. So everyone let it go to long. He ended up panicking when he stood up due to all of the blood. he took off then got caught.


IMO the system failed again, failed to keep his dad in jail in the first place, failed to let him live with his brother, and failed to charge him as an adult.

I don't agree with drunk driving but I do feel that .08 is a little low, the Budweiser drink charts at the bars state that that's 2 beers in an hour for an average sized person, you could drink that much with dinner, thats not even a buzz...But what I find true blue bullshit is when they give dui's for people sleeping in their car when the keys are in or within 30ft of the car...I sleep in my truck all the time because I understand that I shouldn't be driving...I actually have to walk 15+ paces, and hide my keys to sleep in my truck...My buddy got busted for this once...he had put his keys in the bed of his truck...how retarded is that...

haha exactly, most drunk driving accidents are cause by people driving too fucking fast when they are drunk because they are idiots, i think there should be a system where you have to take a drivers test drunk and if you pass it at a certain level like a .1, then you should be able to drive at .1, i guarantee i could pass a drivers test at .12, so i should be able to drive at .12, the shit is all so relative it's stupid to make everyone's max BAC be .08

absolutely! you didn't set out to hurt anyone by doing something foolish, it just happened! So you shouldn't be punished. Sure what you did was reckless and put everyone around you in danger, but it wasn't intentional.

(end sarcasm)

It's called public endangerment. And thats why driving drunk is illegal. I think on your license, you should be allowed to get a mark that says you claim you can drive drunk perfectly fine. Then, if ever you get into an accident while drunk, they can check your license, and if it has that mark, just execute you on the spot.
